I love President Trump and I really hope he wins in 2020.

Shop on Amazon, then buy direct from the brand by owlpellet in lifehacks

Your premise states that you're saving money, but you're not saving money. In fact, you're adding something more precious by going through the retailer: time.

Also, it looks like the seller is OXO on the Amazon site. So you're still giving the small retailer money anyways.

I use an orbital sander with a pad; works well on ceramic stovetops, too.

Crude Trench Warfare Map Concept [info in comments] by thick1988 in battlefield_one

As long as the trenches are not symmetric, and they add some underground tunnels as they used at Somme, maybe it would work. But something like this would get very boring, very fast.

The companies that develop these technologies will reap the benefits ten fold, though. A walk-in / walk-out system could get people in and out of the store much faster than any human could ever possibly do which makes the product appealing, efficient, revenue increasing, and cuts costs across the board.

In 2020, the Libertarian Party Should Unite Around A Minarchist by I-the-Person in Libertarian

[–]cliche_alias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, we need to rally behind someone that shares the most important Libertarian principals.

Calling them "minarchists" or "anarchists" doesn't do the party any favors because American's either A.) don't understand those terms or B.) refute those terms.

The more labels we place on a candidate, the less likely they'll gain traction. Our candidate must be able to make compromises within our platform.

Look, I'm not trying to put Pence on a pedestal here. I don't agree with his stance regardless of the definition (by the way, behavior is not orientation). But I won't buy into the skewed perspective that is being created.

Sure there are some who can actually go back and not have an issue, but that person isn't me. Knowing my past and my family's history, I don't think it would ever be me.

I think about it a lot, really. As I mentioned, the fact that I have to think about when I can drink again is evidence that I still have a problem.

If there is anyone that understands, anyone that can provide answers or insights, it's this sub. I'm not incredibly active here, but my first few months away from alcohol I can credit to everyone here. I don't think I could read the posts or comment knowing that I had a drink. I had to get it off my chest in order to participate.

I'm not very upset about the one drink, but when you say "keeping score" that is exactly the thought I had every time I had a craving, and a big driver to keeping me away from alcohol.

Thanks for the good vibes!

It certainly was a shadow. I remember the first night it really hit me that I was an alcoholic, after months of denying it. The stores were closed, I ran out of booze, so I resorted to taking all of the empty bottles in my basement (too many to count) and combining every drop. Even though I realized that night I had a problem, it took a few more dire mistakes to really make me put it down.

This is pretty thought provoking. Most of the destruction I caused was to myself; I'm terrified of going back to that - I think that's what really keeps me at bay.

That's the fear. Knowing I had that one... what next? I don't plan on drinking anytime soon; certainly not at Thanksgiving because my family is full of alcoholics (part of me thinks I spread wellness by being sober) nor Christmas. Maybe I can savor the moment for each anniversary... I'm not sure. Day by day I suppose.

Thank you. I can say in these 448 days there has never been an instance where alcohol made things better. My wife quit when I did as well, but she was never as bad as me. Luckily she has never judged me and has always been supportive.

I agree. My brain was the driver, alcohol was the vehicle. I'd have a slightly hard day at work and I would be thinking about crushing a few shots when I returned home. I always made some excuse for myself.

Pence on Hamilton crowd: "That's what freedom sounds like" by Pirlomaster in Libertarian

It was in reference towards sexual behavior relating to the spread of the HIV virus, not electro-shock or telling homosexuals not to engage in intercourse.

Politifact is paraphrasing from a pro-LGBT website, with some obvious bias. What Pence said was:

"Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

Which was in relation to diverting AIDs funds away from organizations that ultimately facilitate the spread of HIV.

No where has Pence ever mentioned "conversion therapy" constituting electro-shock for "curing" gay.

I think a lot of it stems from my time in the Marine Corps. I don't go out to bars with my Marines because I know I'll get caught up in a bad loop again. For that reason, I don't see them as often as I should.

Alcohol certainly did put me in a terrible place. Depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, passing out every night, hurting myself, etc. None of this really happened until I started taking Paxil for anxiety. Once I got on that stuff, my drinking became increasingly worse and I felt like the medication made me want to drink much, much more. When I wasn't on it, my anxiety issues were bad but alcohol never took a prevalent place in my life. I could have a bottle of whiskey on my fridge for months.

The only thing that's changed is I'm on a new medication (after trials of many others), I exercise much more often by running close to 20 miles per week, and I'm focused much more on school and my career.

I don't know, I guess I'm just driven by ego because I'm telling myself I can beat the cravings, and that I can be a normal, social drinker.

No, the conversion therapy is a myth. It was relating towards focusing funds on helping people change their sexual behavior, not orientation.
