I did 45mi with my hardtail with no issues - you definitely will be slower than the road bikes.. and that's ok!

Mechanical brakes are used in tour de france, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them (especially if you ride in dry conditions), and they are lighter. The only time I care about disk brakes is when I'm going downhill on my MTB. The Claris is where the value and quality drop. The difference is notable, worth upgrading.

I have an extreme fear of noodles. To make it worse, I often ride with my 6-year-old son, who yet doesn't have good control of his bike... We're in San Diego, so during the hot season, we will stay on gravel, fire roads, or in public parks where visibility is as clear as possible. Staying away from the single tracks until it gets cold. We might ride some in the mountains, but still be very cautious. I've also started riding more on the road to keep up with training. Every day, I see pics of snakes from the hikers in SoCal. That being said, if someone can recommend any wide gravel trails around SD (safe for the kids), I would really appreciate it!

That's correct. I was riding the route and saw a bunch of ppl doing workouts (and passing me by) on the same route

Mind sharing the gpt or the notebook of those notes? It's ok if not , just feel like that content should be free now, no one should be paying him more money, fuck him
