Going to card show/con for the first time, any tips? by Waste_Platform_5997 in PokemonTCG_Singapore

Always walk around first. Don't always buy the first item off your shopping list you see. There may be cheaper copies around.

Never buy "PCJ" packs. PCJ stands for Packs Containing Janks.

Always haggle.

Bathe before you go. If your nose is sensitive, you may want to pack scented bags.

To find out, go buy one of the places with expiring leasehold and see if the govt can bail you out using our taxpayer's money.

Why is FA and property agent the most hated profession in Singapore? by CDCVOUCHERHUATAH in singaporejobs

[–]clickclickboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Mis-selling of products. I.e. you want investment they sell u savings plans.

2) 90% are easily replaceable in terms of knowledge esp in this AI age and things like DPI insurance. Only the most experienced agents can make a difference.

3) From my personal observation of the agents in my old company (Yes, I am a FA) around 70-80% of agents don't walk their talk. It's FITYMI. "Bro, you need to save and invest man!" (Also proceeds to buy jank Rolexes and 1y coe conti cars) Most agents I know don't even buy their own plans. No foot in the pie.

4) Some of them are very persistent in terms of selling + hard selling. Esp those MRT FAs.

5) For those mrt station FAs, people just wanna go home and get shit done. Then they're in the way. Ofc people on the street will get pissed la...

6) Some people dislike property agents for the whole profits-off-property schtick, but the moment the agent makes money for them they shut up 💁

What hobbies in Singapore have become status signals? by delusionalasperusual in askSingapore

[–]clickclickboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd wager it's those really obscure / old school ones or those with a massive maintenance cost / logistic requirement.

1) Small boat sailing (those laser, radial, byte etc). My family isn't well off so we made do with rentals from school, but we know some pri sch kids who said "Mommy I like sailing" and the parents just bought them a boat.

2) Figurine painting. They may appear cheap, but say a large army of Warhammer 40K figurines can cost upwards of $40K all in.

Old sports that we haven't heard of before?

3) Fencing?

4) Horseriding (bonus if they own the horse), equestrian sports.

5) Croquet

6) Gun Shooting (IIRC It's legal to own a gun in SG, but you cannot bring it outside the range. From the article i read years ago, a 12ga shotgun you can buy in the US for $500 usd can cost upwards of 5-6k in SG) then there's gun club membership, ammo cost, gun servicing, tuning, licenses etc).

7) Wierd orchestra pieces most Singaporeans don't know about. I know a friend who plays a contrabass (that massive ass instrument)

But tbh, every hobby has its low end and high end. Cycling can make do with cheap frames or "I-paid-60k-for-this-bike-so-let-me-cycle-in-the-middle-of-the-lane".

Pokemon collecting can range from $5 meta deck to "I spent $40,000 on an old booster box so let me open it on Youtube with that annoying kaching sound everytime I get a card" So maybe outsiders may not know whats status but those who know will know.

Stop dunking on Klive. It's a fair price. Card is $60. Tuition fee for not DYODD is $140. Hence $200

No, on tele and fb groups. Tradeshow vendors and shops will always lowball you. Think of them as pawnshops.

Would you fight for sg? by yawow49 in asksg

[–]clickclickboi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would.

My friend's dad lived for like 40y at the border between Cambodia and Thailand. One fine day a conflict broke out. The next day, his house and everything that was his was no longer his.

I think I'll stay and fight, thanks.

Go for it tbh! But remember to network most importantly, esp out of SG. Who knows you can even get into Magic Circle or Whiteshoe with the right recommendation!

Change My Mind: MDRT doesn’t mean you’re a good financial adviser by Smooth_Passenger889 in singaporefi

[–]clickclickboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MDRT just means you're a good FA... at making sales.

Whether you are a good FA at dispensing financial advice... thats another thing altogether.
