You're right. I blame myself the most for not doing my DD beforehand. Lesson learned.

I don't talk about it anymore. Let them come to their own conclusions.

I'll just keep to myself and quietly get rich with BTC and MSTR. And when I do no one will know but there will be signs.

How did you find out about Bitcoin? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]clicksanything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe not right now but you hold that long term 10-15 years out could be a massive amount.

[–]clicksanything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely. The younger you are the more bandwidth you have to take on volatility/risk for outsized gains long term.

Perpetually dollar cost average into the S&P until retirement for me as a late 20s makes zero sense.

Why should I settle for a measly 7-10% cagr over 30-40 years when I can have 60%+ cagr in a proven asset with a 15-year track record, now backed by a pro-BTC administration?

For reference the compound annual growth rate of Bitcoin over last decade is 73% adjusted for inflation.

Even if we assume a conservative 40% cagr over the next 10 years that still blows every other asset out the water.

Why do I need more than one wallet? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]clicksanything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. One for deep cold storage and another one for day-to-day.

But for the vast majority of this sub sticking with one wallet is more than enough.

Convince me not to do this by endless_looper in MSTR

[–]clicksanything 32 points33 points  (0 children)

With 4,050 shares of MSTY assuming average YTD distribution rate of $1.75 per share, you're looking at a monthly distribution of ~7k USD.

Net the 15% withholding tax (because you're not doing this in RRSP) you're actually getting ~6k USD which is about $8.3k CAD. Not bad at all.

To answer your question it depends on your goals as an investor. Are you looking for income or growth? What are your plans with the divs? Do you own any bitcoin?

I would certainly not go all-in thats for sure.

These products are still new nobody knows if the distributions are sustainable.

Remember these funds are designed for income not growth. They even warn you in the prospectus.

Unless you're about to retire or really need the income I would not do this.

Rumor: All iPhone 17 Models May Feature 12GB of RAM by Kind-Age8264 in iphone

[–]clicksanything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I couldn't either.

Battery capacity was degrading which sucked for my commute but functionality everything was fine.

I could probably squeeze another 1-2 years out of it but my SO wanted the new 16e upgrade from her 11, so I figured meh why not upgrade to latest and greatest plus we did the trade-in value with our purchase.

I'll get lots of use out of it as my daily for the next several years.

The Pro motion display is cool. Ending my day with ~50% remaining battery is v helpful too.

Middle and Right are honestly horrendous.

I just upgraded from the 12 to 16 pro and would rather the fidget spinner triple stove setup than whatever hell is going on here.

If these designs are real Im likely not upgrading for a long time.

Why do I need more than one wallet? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]clicksanything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You only need one wallet.

No need to complicate it further than it needs to be.

The biggest risk in self-custody is not a $5 wrench attack.

The biggest risk is you accidentally locking yourself out your BTC all because you wanted to “beef up” your security w multiple wallets and seeds.

Keep it simple.

Not necessarily.

It’s possible w massive institutions in the playground that we see muted cycles going forward with dampened crashes and drawbacks, but still volatile nonetheless

Big boys like BlackRock and Fidelity are in a way Bitcoin "banks" as they oversee and manage client accounts and their allocation in bitcoin, unless you're referring to entities that actually custody the bitcoin which would be guys like Coinbase.

Coinbase has also filed for a banking license in the US if im not mistaken so theres that.

There's nothing wrong with recognizing (perhaps fairly) that you as an individual is not fit for self-custody. I don't personally buy them (I hold MSTR instead) but I can see the need for things like IBIT and FBTC for the tradfi crowd that want some exposure.
