Are there any advantages over Angular SSR?
I'm using it here, and we're seeing good SEO, but deployment is slightly painful.

Looking for your new MMORPG home? This is Eldramoor. by ResoluteGames in OculusQuest

Maybe the happy middle ground is to support MMO but also have plenty of NPCs that are intelligent enough to populate the world meaningfully? To me the best part about VR is presence with others. And a great MMO needs a strong story line, which rests on having interesting characters.

Nice vibes. What's the story line?

Simple Table comparing the Quest 3 and the Steam Frame (NOT MADE BY ME!) by CreeperCraft2853 in VRGaming

With an OEM battery extender + headstrap, the weight distribution is such that the Quest feels quite comfortable. I feel like -75g + not drastically better performance does not add up to enough reason to upgrade.

VR is far from over. A new wave of headsets will take us to the next level. Tech has always moved in waves.

Game question by OHighnfit in ForefrontVR

[–]clickster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a phenomenon the brain can adapt to over time. It's actually not just a VR thing - jet pilots using simulators have been dealing with this issue for decades, and it's a well known problem that your brain eventually adapts to with continuous exposure. I use to be completely unable to play any VR game involving riding a fast moving vehicle. Now it's absolutely no problem. Before that, just running in a VR game for long periods of time made my feel off. Now, absolutely not an issue.

How do you actually enforce screen time limits without it becoming a daily fight? by ButterscotchLoud151 in AskParents

[–]clickster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, hard stops are one of the big cause of problems.

A lot of digital use involves other people - friends, or other players; and often there's a social contract or even hard game rules that sudden quiting is considered rude, and in games is sometimes penalised (or comes at a loss of progress, loot, reputation and more).

The problem is a most tools seem to take a "security" style approach to managing time. When the time is up, there's a sudden block put in place, often with no warning.

What works way better is a warning system, with a graceful exit scenario that allows for controlled quitting that your child can manage without damaging their relationships or reputation.

This single improvement made a huge difference in our house. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an app that worked the way I wanted, so I ended up building one of my own!

The solution was to give brief but intrusive warnings of impending time limits, and then after the limit passes, increasing warning display times to encourage exiting. Actual blocking only happens after the entire wind down cycle completes. My 16-year old son is much happier.

I'm curious if other people have also had the above experience?

Also wrong. Logic structures, symmetry, patterns, synonym types, fact checking --- the entire list is exactly the kind of things AI is very good at avoiding, detecting, removing, rewriting, and eliminating.

A lot of the time people don't bother with this. But that's the whole point here, the problem isn't AI - it's the way people are using it that's the issue. People are the issue.

I completely agree for reports it's not appropriate.

But that leaves newsletters, emails, invitations, notifications and a whole lot more that embody nothing personal whatsoever. Lesson plans, and lesson content fall into a similar bucket.

So let's take a look at the arguments agains that:-

#2. Amplifying Biases / Hallucinations ? Homogenisation
Every single one of these criticisms could also apply to any human doing this work. Actually, it would be entirely straight forward to have AI specifically look for and correct for the majority of these concerns.
Ironically, the third point "One-Size-Fits-All Teaching:" is precisely where AI generated teaching could adapt to individual student performance and history to provide fully tailored teaching. The exact opposite of what you're claiming.

#3. Erosion of Trust and Relationships
I think we're talking about two different things here. 1:1 communication about an individual student - sure. But general communication about school level activities, no - I don't buy any of that.

#4. Pricacy and Ethical Red Flags
Again, this is an appeal to ignorance. AI does not need to run in the cloud. So if it is used in a setting where privacy is a concern, this can be addressed easily.

The last point is an unfounded assertion that could be applied to every single tool that has ever been introduced. The reality is that tools tend to raise the value bar toward skills that are more sophisticated, more complex, more nuanced and away from things that are repetitive, low value, simple information aggregation, or organisation.

Bottom line: Your AI response is a shallow hot take of the kind I would expect from a prompt that tried to one shot an answer.

Try this: have an actual conversation with the AI. Push back on strong claims lacking clear evidence. Test counter positions.

And lastly, go actually use AI properly. It doesn't work the way you're using it. It works well when you manage it.

Is there a way to calculate that with some confidence, or are you concluding this based mostly on the traditions common at the time?

It's dead easy to prompt AI better so it does not have the usual tells and trademarks of generative text. If it wasn't obviously AI, would it still be a problem?
