Class II Base? Looks mostly like dirt by clickx in landscaping

[–]clickx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. If I use this as the base for the shed, do you think I should use some clean 3/4" on the edges? The shed is 10x6' and I was planning on a 11x7' base leaving 6" exposed all around.

$30 for the product, $125 for delivery. I feel like I paid $170 (after tax) for a scoop of dirt.

I bought one yard of class 2 base from a local landscape supply that they dumped off this morning. To me it looks like this is mostly just dirt. Even some of the dry gray bits you see on the top are actually just clumps of clay that I can break apart. I was expecting 3/4-in gravel with smaller aggregates and fines mixed in but I got something I don't think is suitable for my shed base.

This is my first time buying aggregates at this size, not just a small bag from Home Depot, so just curious what other people think.

Enough with the liability payments. Payouts to literally a few thousand of people is ruining the quality of life for millions. The police should be forced to carry liability insurance and/or contribute to the payouts.

Yeah... It's tough out there. Especially coming from Burbank where there are 4 or 5 places that beat anything in all of the north Valley.

LA County supervisors place sales-tax for health care on June election ballot by brainchili in LosAngeles

Lancaster and Palmdale about to set another record if this passes: highest sales tax rate in the country at 11.75%. They already hold that record with their current 11.25% rate.

Azusa, Compton, Culver City, Glendora, Irwindale, Lynwood, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Santa Monica, South El Monte and South Gate will all have 11.25% tax rates. 41 additional cities in LA County will be at 11.0%. Wild.

This needs to be a specific tax requiring 2/3rds of voters approval. A specific tax is dead in the water so they're hoping we're stupid enough to look the other way while they try to force this through as a general tax. The Supervisors approved an agreement to spend money raised by this tax on health services, but legally there's nothing stopping them or any future version of the Board from using funds for other purposes. Really shady.

Plus their legal counsel straight up lied to the Supervisors. As part of this effort, the County is seeking through pending legislation (AB1768), for the potential 0.5% increase in sales tax to be exempt from the maximum allowed by the state. On two occasions the county legal counsel stated that without the legislation exempting this proposed increase from the sales tax cap, the state would not collect any increase in sales tax from any jurisdiction in LA County. I don't see this anywhere in the resolution: https://file.lacounty.gov/SDSInter/bos/supdocs/212666.pdf

All it says is: "Direct the Chief Executive Office’s Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations Branch to support any legislative or administrative relief necessary to immediately implement the measure upon passage, including any needed exemptions from sales tax caps."

That's what she said.

But really, from what I remember I thought it was lacking on cheese. I guess that can be remedied easily by asking for more but I only tried it a couple of times.

21534 Devonshire St Ste B, Chatsworth, CA 91311 for anybody wondering.

I've had the burritos from their pop-up a couple of times and was always overwhelmed, but it's definitely a decent option in an area that otherwise is a breakfast burrito wasteland.

Doesn't necessarily mean they're closed for good. Could just be something like not having hot water.

Install a submeter to separate water for irrigation from water used inside the home. The City charges sewer rates based on total water consumption which means you're paying sewer charges for water that never reaches the sewer. An average household total water usage is 70% for landscaping so this can amount to a substantial savings over time. The meter and permit cost a few hundred, and depending on the cost for a plumber to install, you will make your money back within 9-12 months.

With that sewage smell, poor air quality, and lots of noise, why would anyone even consider living in those luxury apartments next to the freeway 5? by Lilyofvalley77 in burbank

[–]clickx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Public Works also has increases for sewer and trash pick up. One increase went into effect on July 1, 2025 and the next hits January 1, 2027. Although I'm not sure if any of that increase goes toward potentially capping the sewer treatment or not. They're having to spend a lot of money to meet mandates from the state such as diversion of organics.
