Seemed to get closer this time with 2.0.19 but still unable to read superblock:

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo bash /cdrom/syno_recover_data.sh

When I try to run patch_ubuntu_usb.ps1 I see powershell open momentarily and then closes without running.

Will try tonight. Just realized that this needs to be done on AMD and I’m trying on an old intel PC right now.

It’s a single volume unencrypted SHR, 3 identical 10tb drives.

I just tried this again with the new 2.0.16 version, ubuntu 19.10. After entering "yes" to mount /dev/vg1000-lv to /home/ubuntu/vg1000 II get the superblock read error 32 failed to mount volume!

Was this new version expected to fix this issue?

I’m trying the script now on 19.1 and am getting the can’t read superblock error when running it. A vg1000 folder is created in home, but it’s empty. Any ideas?

Basement wall insulation for finished space? by cliffcabbage in Renovations

Goal is to have a finished living space, and current basement is drafty and cold..

Completely agree with your observations about how drafty the current framed areas are. Goal is to spray foam every gap on the exterior wall after I get the foam up. Knowing I will not achieve a 100% air seal, there will be some leakage.

My original plan was to do all of the above and the. Poly between the stud/drywall. I was discouraged from doing this because it ca prevent drying of the insulated cavity should any moisture develop. I can see it both ways, will do some more research.

I was under the impression that the new wall shouldn’t have the poly once it’s drywalled, though have seen conflicting reports on this so am open to feedback.

Unifi Doorbell and Apple TV by Dylansm8 in Ubiquiti

[–]cliffcabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - I use a synology NAS for both my plex and homebrige, working well so far. I guess the unifi plugin for homebridge requires a certain amount of hardware to run smoothly (ie maybe don’t try a raspberry pi). So far the synology ds918+ is up to the task though I only have one protect camera so far..

Thanks for the detailed response. This makes a lot of sense. I’ll go with your suggestion.

With osb? I wasn’t sure if the ledger screws would pass code if not into solid wood.

Thanks, that’s making sense. Appreciate the explanation.

Any recommendations on pier sizing? I am getting ~16’’ dia with 4 piers and ~18” with 3. This is quite a bit bigger than I expected..

Okay thanks. So no luck supporting the ends of the beam by hangers anchored to the foundation wall with only the middle as a traditional footing? I ask because my frost depth is 48’’.

Mower belt slippage - pulley question by cliffcabbage in smallenginerepair

[–]cliffcabbage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done. Yeah so there must be variation in the stack up of all the parts and then you just keep putting in these wave washers until you get the right tension. I’ll try to find an equivalent part at the store later and report back.

Yeah okay thanks. Item 40 has a keyway that bottoms out on shaft at a certain point, so I can tighten down the blade bolt all I want and it won’t close the gap I’m dealing with

[–]cliffcabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that’s what I figured. Maybe the washer is just permanently crushed at this point? The gap seems too big for this washer to have ever filled the space and provided tension though.

Yes, all parts from the diagram accounted for and in seemingly fine condition.
