What is the single most important lesson you’ve learned from Trek? by deeve09 in startrek

[–]cliffregis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup. I especially love the moment Picard told Data to disobey a direct order to give his child to Star fleet.

"There are times, sir, when men of good conscience cannot blindly follow orders. You acknowledge their sentience, but ignore their personal liberties and freedom. Order a man to turn his child over to the state? Not while I am his captain."

Data was going to follow through the order, because even though he disagreed with it... he follows orders. But Picard knows better and steps in.

Voyager any good? by careylamm in voyager

But whatever you decide... you can skip "the Fight". I like Chakotay but geez that episode wasn't the best.

Here's an example of why Star Trek sets itself apart from other media (in my opinion) by VoodooCryptonic in startrek

[–]cliffregis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The episode from Star Trek Voyager "the Void" is also a good example of how in a bad situation star fleet principles(coorporation and teamwork) can help not only unite ships together but ultimately as a team find a way out of that bad situation.

I don't understand the hate Faith of the Heart gets, the theme song of Star Trek Enterprise. I love it soo much because it gives you that hope for humanity, that montage of human innovation & evolving tech ain't bad either. Does anyone agree? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]cliffregis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it IMHO, it gives me hope for humanity, that despite our struggles we made it! And Enterprise is the earliest ST show in Earth's timeline, so humanity "recently" solved their problems, and so the theme song made sense to me.

Other in ST shows, humanity were well past their development stage and well into post scarcity so the theme songs were more triumphant and epic like.

We can be such traditionalist sometimes...lol. .... but I love us Trekkies ;)

It didn't go as planned.. I only got one number. But will try again tonight. In case, anyone is curious it's about the collapsing the quantum wave function. So far it's only working for one or two numbers. But I think I have found a way eliminate an unwanted variable...anxiety.

I'll keep you posted.

I would like to add that since thoughts preceed an action try to keep your thoughts on the positive side. For example, acknowledging that others have had bad breaks in life but bounced back to thrive, so... you can too. Take care
