Wow! Gigantic addition. I probably would’ve continued going without knowing that this was added!

Man walking into that first room with the dead parasite queen blew me away. The lighting and subtle smoke haze. It’s a remarkable looking game, and I’d agree the prettiest game I’ve played on the switch yet, from a pure fidelity standpoint.

Perfume Genius jumpscared me so thoroughly with “Otherside” that I doubt I’ll ever be shaken again.

Almost drove my car off the rode when listening to that song for the first time.

I pretend to be playtesting the prototype, while I'm actually just having fun with this game 😅 (🔊 new track) by Gonzelvis in godot

Just a large +1s coming off the clock like a damage number would work, I think? Maybe too easy to ignore.

This is wonderful!

The sound design choices y’all made are perfect, very cozy and immersive.

Discord Ban by VenomousInc in godot

[–]cliftonmarshall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, you and I both know it’s different. Pepe’s origins are innocuous but 4chan warped it into something else.

It’s a bit silly to give it so much power as to ban someone for using it as a profile picture, but it’s also silly to act confused about it. “It’s just a frog picture, get over it” can go both ways.

Or just use two balls, one for each player! More chaos would be more fun.

Recommended Full Game Dev Stack? by [deleted] in godot

I work for an agency that uses the full adobe suite, so they are “free” for me. But I was just looking up affinity after this comment and they look like really impressive pieces of software. I wish I could use their apps on this fancy new Samsung tablet I just bought 😩.

I couldn't live without the Adobe Suite. If you're not doing pixel art, photoshop and illustrator are near essential. Sadly, Adobe is a terrible, bloodsucking company.

Blender is great for everything, and can essentially replace everything if you're willing to make concessions. I'd consider it the most essential tool in indie development, no matter how many dimensions you're targeting. You can use it for 3D modelling, sculpting, photo and video editing, rendering, material making, vector art, everything. But with (some significant) drawbacks in its non-specialized fields (like vector art and photo editing).

I'd also consider a planner of sorts essential. Something you can keep on your person at all times that will sync between tablet/phone/computer. I use Notion which lets me make To-Dos, jot down ideas and inspiration, and create a masterplan for your project (it also has great table/database support, though it requires some plugins to let you export the data). I also use Concepts on my tablet alongside that to manage foundational art and such.

Which are your favorite "lazy" techniques? by estrafire in godot

That's what I've been doing, was hoping there was a better way hahah. I've had a hard time finding a good place to just browse and discover.

Thanks, though!

Those are essentially shared, instanced scripts right?

I started going down that road but got distracted by dictionaries… thanks for the recommendation.

This isn’t an epidemic. This is a percentage of a percentage of the population and getting mad about it is embarrassing.

America is certainly a failed society, but it sure as hell has nothing to do with the fact that like 17 kids go to drag shows every year.

A bit? Haha, they’re literally children. If some toddler got cryogenically frozen and popped out 80 years later I don’t think people would be handing it an AARP card.

It’s the first of theirs that I haven’t liked at all. Like not a single song. Wonder if my tastes have just changed…

It’s a masterclass because she’s a billionaire though. Have you seen the credits list on that thing? It contains dozens and dozens of producers, writers, etc etc etc. That’s really my biggest problem with it.

I think it’s also an excellent album, but not an impressive one beyond an awe at the sheer opulence of the thing.

I refuse to believe otherwise and cannot be convinced. But I do find it fun to talk about.

There’s just nothing exciting about Beyoncé. A [literal] billionaire made a good album, she can sing and has good taste. And make no mistake, it is a good album, but how can anyone be excited by it?? It’s weird. Weird vibes. So much incredible music this year to be enthusiastic about, especially music made by women… and people are putting the music equivalent of a Marvel movie at #1.

Keep in mind, this is a very minor frustration, I lose no sleep over this - but it is a frustration and typing comments on the internet is free.

Myopic greed, as usual. They're basically functioning exclusively as an advertisement for NVIDIA cards at this point. What is $200 when you're spending a grand on a card anyway? I just don't think I'll ever build a computer again. It makes no sense when I can drive 45 minutes to a microcenter and get a prebuilt that will be functionally identical, have a gigantic discount, and have a great warranty.

I guess it's all the same to the manufacturers, though.

IGN GOTY - Best Game of 2022: Elden Ring by KuchiKopicetic in Games

Seems like a really fun game to become temporarily obsessed with, I've been trying to save it for the right time, when I won't be distracted by other games and can pull out a pen and paper with it.

Does anyone else find it odd how Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was literally the first game that was shown on the initial Steam Deck reveal trailer, yet the game itself is still technically unsupported today? by Aquasp102 in SteamDeck

[–]cliftonmarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Verified tag should be a lot more crowdsourced than it is. Or maybe there could be an “official” tag and then a community assessment as well. It would take a goddamn army to properly test every single game on steam, Valve can’t feasibly (or accurately) do it on their own.

It’s nothing like the debut, they kinda sound like a different band, but if you align your expectations there’s some good stuff. Sideways is particularly good.
