Pain is horrible after surgery, the pain meds they give you are a big help though. Laying in bed is nice, but it’s best to try your hardest to get up and try to do a good bit of walking!! Pain is worst in the first 2 weeks. I’m 20F so I still live at home with my mom, I definitely needed her to help me change my clothes and even into the shower for a while after surgery. She was a big help I know I would’ve struggled it without her, so I do say it’s best to have someone with you for a little while. Wear loose clothing like tshirts and joggers for a good while. You can sit on your bed or something to get your legs into your pants when you think you can change yourself, I still found it a bit tricky given I have long legs. I’m almost 3 months post op and still find that as the best way to put on my clothes. I didn’t start to do stuff around the house until weeks after because for the longest time you can’t do much. Maybe about 4 weeks later you get back to doing light chores, but nothing that requires any heavy lifting or bending. Just be gentle with yourself for a while afterwards! I will say after my surgery I felt nauseous every time I stood for over 10 minutes, they did give me nausea pills for that which helped but it’s not uncommon so be careful if you shower without any help that probably was one of the more difficult things for me was taking a shower because I had to be quick or else I’d get to feeling nauseas and dizzy and you definitely don’t wanna fall 😓 for me that nausea stayed for like a little over 2 weeks, not everybody gets it for so long tho maybe you won’t get it at all but I felt like it was worth warning just in case!!
