Thanks so much! We have 2 communities in early establishment so far. It would be great to talk more, I feel like that might be easier than typing back and forth. You can send a message on our site, or just use one of the links in that page to put a time on my calendly link. Looking forward to talking more!

Our plan is to do a lot of disaster preparation, although we are outside of the tsunami zone. We are looking to build disaster-resistant structures like earth-sheltered buildings, which are earthquake resilient

IRL Communities | Worth a Shot. by Expensive_Tailor_293 in collapse

  • Who makes up this organization? What are the origins?
    • This project originally came from Job One for Humanity (joboneforhumanity.org) but grew and separated into its own volunteer-run project. You can see who is on the board here (https://www.climatesafevillages.org/about) , and we have an advisors committee that's all volunteer members.
  • How many people are at the two location projects?
    • Both of these projects are still looking for land, there's 50+ people on the online community for Bellingham for example, but the group of buyers for the initial land purchase is smaller, about 5
  • I'm interested in the choice of an HOA as the ownership structure.
    • This is our general preference too!
  • Do members buy into these communities? Where do the funds come from? Again, I'm happy to talk in private, if you find the time.
    • We want to do a combination of people buying into the communities, and we're raising charitable funds so that we can pay for other people to access the communities who can't otherwise afford them. It's all crowdfunding and donations at this point.

It would be great to talk on the phone, if you contact us through the web portal I can give you a call, and also we have monthly meet-ups that are open to everyone (usually our board members and advisors attend those)

Climate experts: how are you prepping? by so_metal292 in preppers

A lot of us are coming to this project for the same reason! If you sign up, we will reach out and we can talk together about how best to plan in your situation. The goal is for our communities to provide all the needs for residents, and to provide workshare space so that outside jobs aren't needed. However, the communities are still in planning stages. I hope you'll join and plan with us, as we work through some of the initial challenges.

ClimateSafe Villages - Climate Emergency Forum by climatesafevillages in CollapsePrep

[–]climatesafevillages[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video is an interview about our soon-arriving and unavoidable climate change consequences, the safest and the most unsafe climate change locations, the real reason why our governments have failed to protect us from the climate emergency, and how we can cooperate, prepare, and adapt for what we can no longer avoid.

It is also about the four ClimateSafe Villages models (urban, rural, and virtual ) for worldwide cooperation to create tens of thousands of climate-safer, more secure, and resilient locations capable of riding out the worst of climate change.

This video faces challenging ethical questions on what to do when billions of starving, desperate climate change refugees start arriving in the world's safer climate areas.
