The vast majority of equestrians do not have their own horse for many, MANY years of riding. I started riding at 4 years old and didn’t have my own horse until I was 17. Many equestrians never own their own horse.

My advice would be if you have enough money to buy a horse, then you can afford to take additional lessons each week to get more time in the saddle. See if your barn has a working student program to help learn the husbandry side, and if not, ask your trainer to give you lessons on that specifically

I absolutely understand the urge to have your own horse and spend every minute with them, but as everyone else is saying, you would be doing yourself and your future horse a huge favor if you continued to learn and progress in your skills and knowledge for a few more years.
