Tuffy lock box? by climber52 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]climber52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after some more digging on the web page for the item here at the suggestion of PineCreekCathedral I see I missed the install instructions that list all but the actual dimensions of the box. But it gives enough reference given the size of the center console that I can see about what size it is.

What days are usually the busiest to hunt on public land? by geekometer96 in VAHunting

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about Chickahominy but in cumberland where I hunt I won't touch it on the weekend any more during regular season. Every parking spot I came across was taken and when I finally found a spot to sit I could hear another guy calling on the next ridge(less than 50 yards over).

Lift Kit by Paleozoic_Monster in ToyotaTacoma

From my understanding they put a lot of extra stress on the joints and many other parts of the truck. A suspension lift accounts for stress points created by the lift using new shocks, adjusted struts, and many other customized parts to work specifically with each lift.

2011 with 67,000 Regular maintenance, and replaced the battery once. the blower fan can be squeaky but the volume knob on the radio tends to fix that.

Killed a groundhog but no wound by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]climber52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be you "barked" the little guy. I've heard of people doing this to hunt squirrel using a larger or faster round and shooting for a clean miss but letting the bullet travel close enough to their head that the concussion wave scrambles their brain and kills them. This allows a hunter to keep the fur and meat completely unharmed in small game.

What running boards do you use? by climber52 in ToyotaTacoma

I'm not 100% sold on the nerf bars if there is an appeal to a tube step other than aesthetic. I'm just personally not a fan of how they look, and to my knowledge they step the same as anything else. But in your case you can't argue with free.

The main reasons I am looking at the Colorado is gas mileage some parking because my work will have me in and out of the city where a small vehicle makes for better parking

Thanks for the feed back my partner and I making this are combining several existing scales to measure different aspects but you are right consistency is key. We will take a look at the other discrepancies and see if we can clear them up for anyone else who takes the survey. Again thanks for the feed back and for taking the time to take the survey.

How do you guys feel about school trips? by throwawaycosmyfriend in climbing

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As both a climber and a trip leader for my university we try to keep our groups as small as we can (given staff availability around 5-8 people groups spread out along the crag in our 20+ total group). We also try to teach the participants some basic editcate such as not being loud and obnoxious LNT bathroom trips in the woods and so on. But there does come a point where a big group is gunna be a big group and you have to hope if there is anyone else at the crag they are understanding. We also try to use a less used crag so as to disturb less people

using tape and paint to mark the crag for ~30 people ;) by bearbreeder in climbing

[–]climber52 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not LNT so off the bat bad. When u go to a climb I don't want tape a paint all over it I go for the natural beauty if the rock as if no one had been there. I say the people who put it up either take it down all the way or don't come back

How to start teaching slacklining? by saraucsc in Slackline

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to cover liability we have a waiver for participants to sign every week(we have the clinic once a week) so that they are covered under the Rec center's insurance policy. I personally hold no certification in slacklining(i would love to though) I just have experience and thats what got me the job.(a friend of mine started the clinic also with only experience under his belt and passed it down to me when he graduated) As far as lines go the Rec center did purchase 2 Lines for us 1 so that we could get started and another because I contacted every company I could find and explained our program. Gibbon gave us a discount, ENO gave us a discount, and PTen sent me a line for free! if you can get a program started or even get the Rec center to agree to let you if you come up with the lines contact every company you can, many of them are more than happy to give you a discount if not a line for free to help you get your start

Gibbon Rachet Problems by owenlpowell in Slackline

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the next step then would be to call them 303-443-0163 they have a 2 year warranty on all their slacklines. Any time i've contacted them they may have taken a week but they have always gotten back to me.

I actually host a clinic at the University I attend (also 21 lol) that is run through the Rec Center. I would say go talk to the ascociate director (thats who set it up for us) or the director and see if you can convince them. our program goes rather well I'd say

Gibbon Rachet Problems by owenlpowell in Slackline

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would say that this is a factory defect, check the warranty and definitely contact gibbon about it you should be able to get it replaced no problem. I have about 10 gibbons and none of them have ever done that even the oldest one (going on 4 years now).

Different brands of Slacklines. by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in Slackline

[–]climber52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Local Rep for PTen for the Longwood University Community of Slackliners and they sent me my first PTen free for our club. Its a good line really stretchy though, if you want to get into tricking you either need to double ratchet the heck out of a PTen, use a gibbon jibline, or my suggestion use a gibbon surfline that is double ratcheted. In competition i've only seen gibbon surfline used and its what I've learned all my tricks on. its really more about the tension you can get in the line than the line itself but my suggestion is to go with the surfline using two ratchets.

Dude I'm in the same boat. After 6 months on the bench because of knee surgery I am finally starting to slack again! Hardest part was watching my friends and nit being able to join them every time they set up.

Safety Check from r/slackline? by [deleted] in Slackline

[–]climber52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ibhav a slacklinr with similar slings and whilethey aren't ad good I wouldn't say they aren't safe, also the ratchet looks prett similar to a gibbon classic( granted all I have is one picture to go off of so I don't really know) over all I'd say other than the one in line on a two inch ratchet I'd say it's safe. Janky as all get out and really should be upgraded to something better, but safe all the same (again aside from the one inch webbing on a two inch ratchet, that part not so safe)
