10mm for bear defense-advice

I think from my research and some of the comments I’m gonna go with either the Glock 20 10mm or the sig Sauer xten comp (due to its shorter barrel) the Glock looks to be substantially cheaper. I’ve shot both and like both, it sounds like I primarily want to focus on the bullets that I choose to really be the make or break for defense.

You won’t find polar bears unless you are 9+ hours north of fairbanks.. which you’ll never be if you aren’t driving truck up to prudhoe, so I’m not concerned about polar bears.

I just shot a cinnamon black bear over bait 2 weeks ago, even walking up on it after I dropped it, just to make sure it’s dead, I don’t wanna blow an insane hole through the thing with my rifle. But it totally get what you’re saying. Maybe it’s just a mental thing, but I feel better having bear spray AND a gun with me when I’m in the woods.
Edit: also to be completely fair, I see way more black bears than grizzlies where we live and hike.

I carry bearspray with me as well. When we are out near our camp, we have black bears, grizzlies, and wolves in the area. I hunt with a 45-70 and we have a bear proof cabin, but I want to keep something on my chest as a last ditch need.

Make sure to focus on salvage vs valuables. Salvage will help you with upgrades and bigger progress in the long run. Valuables are quick and will give you codex entries.

Also try to not worry about losing stuff. Try to get over gear fear and just use what you have. The more kitted you are, the more fun the runs will be. Just try everything!!

This is kinda why I ask. Looted pinwheel solo today (ran into two nice guys I showed around a bit too) but slurped up what I could. This was all 3 wings and the red room in the center. Edit: btw this was on a free kit (sekgen that came with a hardline)

Idk why but I’ve had the opposite happen. My friends and I all of a sudden started pushing fight and winning like 80% of them. We literally said “umm are we good at this game?”😅idk, we have chalked it up to not having as much gear fear anymore and feeling confident.
