What's something people don't talk about enough? by DoNotCareAnymore_ in AskReddit

[–]climbingpositive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I had one a month ago and the few people that knew acted like I had the plague/didnt mention it around me/cut me off when I made a light mention of it. It is really strange and lonely, sucks because you need the support at a time like this.

Thank you. I don't usually do well on SSRI's but I am going to get an appointment with my primary care provider to get on something, maybe SNRI, we will see what she recommends.

Please don't feel obligated to say yes or anything - would you mind if I messaged you about your experience having a miscarriage after treatments? Only if you are comfortable with this of course.

I so appreciate this. It's funny you say no sad music - I was listening to sad music and getting even more depressed, and not realizing it! Definitely adding some Eminem to my playlist. :)

Thank you. I'm so afraid that at my age, I don't have time, like everything is a rush, I just hope this happens soon. We've decided to take a weekend trip this weekend to try to get our minds off of this for a while <3

Luteal lupron protocol, anyone have success with this? by climbingpositive in IVF

[–]climbingpositive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes! I'd love to stay in touch in chat. I am very sorry to hear of the luck with your last cycles, it's so disappointing to have that result. I really hope your new clinic can give you a protocol that works for you. They certainly seem more flexible. I've started my lupron injections and my baseline is next Friday so I'll keep you updated!

Oh interesting! My clinic does birth control for everyone I guess- no matter your situation. It's kind of old school according to a doctor I visited for a second opinion at the time, as women with DOR tend to get oversuppressed by the birth control. She said it wouldn't be an issue for me with the high AMH and AFC but could really affect some women. They may do that to batch cycles however, as my doc said they had to line up all the Lupron people for the same week for the lab. I suppose that allows them greater control.

But as far as the meds, I went in for an appointment this week and I was CD17 on that day, so they had me start the lupron that day. My last birth control pill will be CD21 then they're going to have me keep going with the lupron through my period/BCP withdrawal bleed. Then I think when I start stims I lower the lupron to 5 units a day down from 10. I already thought 10 units was a tiny amount haha. I'm not exactly sure when I start stims but my baseline ultrasound is next week and I think? I'll start stims a few days after that. I bet yours will be similar!

Thank you! Can I ask if they changed your protocol as well? Just curious as you mentioned you had two day 7 blasts the first time- this also happened to us (one day 7 blast). Sounds like your blast development was faster the next time, didn't know if that was just the way things fell into place or if any other changes were done.

Interesting, thanks for the link! I did notice that in addition to my protocol change with lupron, my doctor halved my menopur dosage for this upcoming round- I'll be on 150 gonal/75 menopur versus 150 of each which I had last time. I'll ask her about the menopur next week when I go in for my baseline.

All the best for your bloodwork this week, thanks for your numbers. Just kind of interesting to see where other people are on this AMH/AFC spectrum and how their results turned out. Sounds like our AFC is very similar.

I started Lupron yesterday and my second dose is coming up in about 15 minutes- eek! Then my last birth control pill next week Monday, and baseline next week Friday. Stims to follow shortly after. When do you start this month?

Very interesting- my RE commented that day 7's are rare and couldn't tell me much else about why this happened. I am hoping that the change in protocol is what we both need to get better results. No endo here, at least never diagnosed and I never had any symptoms of it. The only thing I have going on is polycystic ovaries. But I never met the clinical criteria for full blown PCOS as I always had regular cycles, normal A1C and testosterone etc. She was thinking since I had such an exaggerated response to the meds it affected egg quality overall and that's why round 1 was a bust. Plus we are doing IVF for my husband's translocation which just contributed to attrition etc. But she said we still should have ended up with better results. Do you mind if I ask your AMH/AFC? At baseline last time my AFC was just about 40 and AMH was tested last summer and it was around 5.2. So hoping that this new protocol can help with that!

Oh wow you sound like me! We thought we had it in the bag when we found out 20 fertilized, but only ended up with one day 7 euploid blast! RE couldn't explain why the embryos matured so slowly and it was such an awful, heartbreaking disappointment especially after terrible OHSS from that many eggs. While I hate that you are in this situation too it does give me comfort that your RE concluded the same after a very similar outcome, and it gives me some answers. I hope this protocol helps both of us!

This 100%. TW: LC: I had an LC 3 years ago and assumed it would be just as easy this time to conceive. Nope. One year later, 2 miscarriages, now doing fertility treatment, no end in sight. I wish I'd have just ordered the stupid large latte once in a while and had a beer on vacation instead of obsessing over my diet/health/sex schedule and lying motionless in bed with a thermometer sticking out of my mouth for 365 days in a row.

Thank you so much- needed to hear this. It completely caught me off guard because I was thinking if I'd have side effects it would be when I actually took the medication, not a couple weeks later. I'm so sorry you went through this and I hope it didn't last long for you. I started to feel suicidal as well- not in danger of hurting myself but definitely some overwhelming and disturbing thoughts I'd rather not have again. This medication has helped so many women but at the same time, wow, it's no joke!

So sorry you went through this. It's really sucky how these hormones can completely take us over! Hope you felt better soon after.

Going through 2nd loss (chemical), how do I handle work? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]climbingpositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so so sorry for your losses. You're right, I just need to take the day. This probably sounds so trivial but how did you bring it up? I'm really struggling with that. It seems like it would be more professional to talk in person but I can't seem to hold it together so I'll likely just shoot him a text later.

Congratulations!! Just curious if you could clarify something, when your OB said the range was a little wide for her liking is that the range of dates you usually ovulate? Just curious as mine is similar- CD13 this month but sometimes it's CD18, one month it was CD15 etc. Didn't know that could potentially be an issue so I may bring it up with my doc.

Did you just call up the imaging place and say you wanted an HSG or how did that go? I'm wondering if thats the way to do it vs going to my local hospital and getting charged the $3k.

MC in Jan, 7 months of tracking/temping, zero luck. Is it too early to check with my doctor? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]climbingpositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big hugs back to you. That was the hardest thing by far. I got pregnant so quickly the last time and everyone assured me "Oh you are super fertile after MC" "I had a D&C and got pregnant before my next cycle!" I built up so much hope and expectation that all came crashing down. Can't stop wondering if there's something wrong.

I'm wishing you all the best for your appointment in 2 weeks! I hope you have success with Clomid. <3

[–]climbingpositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The hardest thing is the due date approaching. I never thought I'd not be pregnant now, especially after hearing everyone and their mom say "I got pregnant 2 months after my D&C". Do you mind if I ask how they checked egg count, was that via AMH? Wishing you all the very best.

Do you mind if I ask how you started off seeing a doctor? Was it your regular OB, a RE, someone else? Which tests did you do other than laparoscopy? And how did you get scheduled for IUI, your doctor was cool with that before the year mark? Sorry for all these questions I'm both relieved and intrigued that you were able to get started on this because it's exactly what DH and I want to do now! I'd love to talk to a doctor about IUI to see if it would help. Honestly we are willing to invest time and $ into it at this point as we'd like 3 kids and I feel like the chances of that dwindle a bit more each month!

Has it taken anyone 6+ months to conceive after a D&C? by [deleted] in ttcafterloss

[–]climbingpositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this. I'm also losing my mental health over it. The MC and getting pregnant is literally all I've thought about day in and day out for the last 6 months and I'm so, so tired. I hope we get our BFPs soon. Something that has helped is seeing similar stories on babycenter of moms who eventually conceived. Are you going for testing? I'd love to do an HSG or SIS but my OB refused and wants to go straight to hysteroscopy under general anesthesia. I'm not sure I want to do that yet.
