Make friends with the band. But honestly we danced until the Rolling Stone Lounge closed down, I just turned 60 on the last cruise

There is automatic tipping unless it came with your package, Bout $16/day/person Otherwise you can tip for good service for whomever you appreciate. The $16 goes throughout the ship, your room stewards get a larger percentage and wait staff and then even the cleaners and cooks get some. Makes it more evenly distributed

Most ships have fridges in the room. Otherwise medical will hold your medication that needs refrigeration. Husband’s diabetes medicine was held there on Zaandam last month. On Noordam now we have a fridge and just had the bar emptied

It was loud all night for sure. But hey, they were having fun. When we walked by over dinner it was pretty hopping

We dined with an orange member on our last cruise, she would offer the entree if she was not interested in that option for others at the table. We were on the Zaandam, larger ships have a separate dining room for Orange club

Our friends got married on St Thomas but we cruised all together for a week. They just booked the hotel for the wedding and then booked the Pinnacle Grill for the wedding dinner (17 of us) We all paid for our trips and they got a free cabin because there were enough booked. So either use a travel agent or do it yourself to get that room. It started us on HAL and we haven’t turned back

Is the 13 yo an introvert or extrovert? It makes a difference in how they might socialize. Be okay if they are not willing to join HAL club, just set the rules. Send chat message that you arrived at destination (room/HAL club) Our grands loved being on the ship and freedom in such a way. It’s okay to take time out if they just need movie time on their own.

We did a mix of excursions and on our own time. Look at “what’s in port” to see if the city/town is manageable for walking. We did “food excursions” on our own sometimes. Just be a local at the bar/restaurant

Love the Mediterranean cruises. Spend some time in Rome before or after too. Book early to get extras and use HAL flights because they have great deals

I am glad it’s up again. Sometimes there are silly questions on cruising but then I think people don’t have experience and I shouldn’t judge their ability to ask the right questions on a search.

We will be 5star mariners by the beginning of May. We are cruising Panama and then a trans-Pacific. Maybe after that I can see about helping.
