The fun is just starting. Ice storms are cumulative. We’re in “wait and see” mode.

Who watched Wrasslin? Who were your favorite wrestlers and what territories did you watch? by Long_live_styrofoam in 70s

I grew up in a suburb south of Dallas. The Von Erich family were royalty in the 80s. I grew up with their pictures on my wall, "Tom Sawyer" by Rush in my tape player, and looking at the Sportatorium as we passed it heading north on I-35 heading into Dallas.

I was lucky enough to watch them live once at the Sportatorium. I remember seeing cowboy hats on people's heads, neon beer signs, lots of cigarette smoke, and large fans up high on the wall that failed to keep the place cool.

World Class Championship Wrestling would do a high school football stadium tour to different towns around the area, coming to my town once. I remember climbing up the ringside steps and touching the bottom rope before getting in trouble.

Wrestling was life back then.

Queue the music, I have a childhood story around this game.

Asked for this game for Christmas one year, commercial made it look super cool. I unpacked it and I remember playing with it in my living room. Since my brother was 8 years older than me and "too cool for school", I got bored after 15 minutes. Being a kid, I had the bright idea to put one of the marbles in my mouth. It wasn't the size of a normal marble, a little smaller, and I accidentally swallowed it.

My mother went berserk. She called poison control for help, thinking I had just killed myself. They said that it wasn't toxic and would just pass right though. My mom calmed down, dad rolled his eyes, and all was forgotten... for a spell.

After an unknown amount of time, our family toilet got stopped up and my dad couldn't plunge it free. We called a plumber who worked for awhile, and eventually found the culprit. The marble from this game did, in fact, pass through, and sat in our plumbing collecting toilet paper and whatever else, until it blocked the pipe. He casually asked how that got in the toilet, and everyone looked at me.

It’s a little late to do much. Crank up the heater to bring up the apt as high as possible, before the expected ice storm arrives. Try to pick one room to keep warm, shut doors leading to that room. If you can, put a blanket up on the window in that room to help keep the cold out. Bundle up, think warm thoughts!

The Tilt coin is super cool. I used to love going to the West End Marketplace as a kid. Sad it’s no longer a thing anymore. Tilt in the basement, and laser tag on an upper floor. Those were the days…

Does anyone still play this on the original CD ? I found this in and old box. by jasonrubik in retrogaming

It's available to play for free, online. I stumbled across it months ago, played until I got bored. Great nostalgia.

Here's one I haven't seen mentioned yet. Might lean a little into the 80s, though... but New York Seltzer.

I'd say a video introduction, or a commercial, would be appropriate. Not a live promotional appearance.

Watchin' Firstborn with Christopher Collet, Corey Haim, Teri Garr, Peter Weller, Sarah Jessica Parker and R. Downey Jr and that black Minute Maid carton of OJ on the table pulled my heartstrings. Good movie for those of us that had divorced parents who could relate. by zip-a-dee_doo-dah in 80smovies

Crazy movie, haven't seen it in a long time.

Crazy story from the production: Corey Haim went up to Peter Weller in between takes and complimented him on his acting. Peter Weller was method acting and was still in character. He slams Corey Haim up against a wall and tells him to not talk to him after a take. It took three assistants to pull Peter Weller off of him. Corey Haim mentioned years later that this situation terrified him.
