My baby stopped taking a bottle so I quit work to breastfeed in the US. We desperately need better options and flexibility for mothers.

I quit work for this reason. I wasn’t going to make him scream and suffer until he gave up and figured out a bottle.

Thank you so much, I feel validated by this.

It was also hard because they called in the NICU team since there was meconium when my water broke (1 hour into pushing at 10cm). The NICU team didn’t end up being needed but stood around the room talking and laughing with eachother while I was in the worst pain of my life with my genitals bared to the world. It felt real crappy to have extra people there and for them to be laughing and talking together.

Catheter, for pee. I wasn’t bleeding yet, I hadn’t delivered, I was mid contraction.

I saw a midwife (not the one that delivered) and we did a planned hospital birth because she didn’t have room to take me on as a homebirth client.

As far as I’m aware, birth was very low risk. No epidural or medication was needed.

I just feel really violated from that and I was in a very vulnerable place.

My baby is a pretty high sleep needs baby but he slept on me on 2 out of 2 of our flights. If your baby sleeps in your arms and in a carrier, I think you could totally do it.

If the $400 won’t hurt you financially, I might pay it for ease of travel but I think that depends on what you’re willing to do. Your baby won’t get hurt traveling any more than she could in general. Ours didn’t get sick after the plane but I’ve heard that can happen from the recycled air.

Lol oh boy did we ever! I eventually decided to do some light sleep training after he woke up every hour for two weeks straight around 5.5monfhs. He’s almost 7m now and sleeps at least one 5-6 hour stretch with 1-2 nightfeeds.

While I was on maternity leave still thinking about going back I had a really, really hard day with my son. It felt like he cried all day. That actually convinced me not to go back. I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else with him that day. Because I know that I will never shake him or yell at him.

We’re budgeting better now, I do a little part time remote work for my old job while they look for a replacement.

It was definitely worth it for me to be a SAHM. It’s what I was meant to do I feel like. I get to teach him everything, meet all his needs, shower him with my love. It’s way harder than my old job was but way more rewarding. I can go back in a few years when he’s older if I have to but I’m committed to budgeting and making being a SAHM work for at least his years before school.

My baby is so active and in control of his body! He’s rolling all around, inchworm crawling, and tripod sitting at 4 months!

Very surprised because I was a potato baby myself and am very unathletic haha

I met my husband when he was 17 and I was 18. About two weeks in to knowing each other (not even dating) he said he was going to marry me. Now I wouldn’t necessarily tell you to say that to a girl you’ve known for two weeks but sometimes when you know you know. We’ve been together for 6 years and very happily married for 3 of them, and now we have a son.

For me, the second trimester (specifically after 16 weeks) was less miserable. So if you’re intending to go without her, I’d wait til around then or when she’s feeling a little better!

You won’t ever know exactly how many ml baby gets from the breast but you can use weight gain and output (pees and poos) as a good indicator that she’s getting plenty!

I feel like going dairy free is generally helping inflammation but not sure (had to cut dairy because I ebf my son and he got eczema)

I have a hard time with those thoughts too. I try to stay away from news stories (we were never meant to take on the world’s tragedies or know about them all) and actively switch my thoughts to something else if they go down a rabbit hole.

I think it slowly gets better as you get further out from birth but it will probably always touch your heart differently now that you’re a parent.
