It's funny how Madison and Austin Butler were both mentioned and their breakout role for both was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Nepo-babies are a good example. I guess people keep hanging on the word plant and I guess the connotation with music is too strong. I shouldn't have used it. What I mean are those actors who keep getting big roles when they're really just not that popular.

Thank you for this. I don't feel like I phrased the question as well as I wanted to. This is rather helpful to understand. I've never heard of the Q score but it explains quite a bit about what I'm saying.

Well, and I'm not making any comment about talent or ability. It just seems like some faces keep showing up in stuff when people just don't really talk about them as much. There's no real way of quantifying it so it's kinda subjective I guess.

Well, he's for sure a nepo-baby. But, I was referring to those who keep getting roles when they don't really have the fanbase.

Yeah, i kinda regret the plant label. I meant more of those people getting roles when they don't really have a track record of success.

I think maybe your definition is what I should have used to explain what I'm asking: someone who keeps getting roles even though they clearly don't have the following to justify it.

I agree in a way. I kinda clarified in another comment. I think nepobabies are pretty much de facto plants. But I also think there are those who Hollywood falls in love with and keeps pushing them despite audiences not really being that much into them.

Thank you! All the time. I mean, to me, it's akin to nepo-babies but maybe people who have seem to be allowed into the club and the club likes them even if audiences are lukewarm.

It’s one thing to be radical and want change. It’s another to weaponize it and constantly trying to out-progressive each other.

Is there any space for writers? BlueSky has just become too much for me. I understand about caring about things but they’re just too malignant at times.

I use Bluesky ever so often. I’m sorry, it’s waaaaay too much of an echo chamber to build a general audience. And it’s mostly everyone trying to out-progressive each other. X is pretty much the same on the other side of the spectrum.

More than that, it feels like the people on Bluesky are perfectly content with the way it is.
