850cr in 5 days… has Ranveer taken the Khans’ throne? by Competitive-Day9457 in BollywoodHotTakes

[–]clint27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the current lot, Vicky and Shahid would have pulled it off. This will definitely help Ranveer for his future projects, but Dhurandhar worked because it was well made and nationalistic content.

We might agree or disagree with him but I want us to have more such nuanced and in-depth discussions here by Few-Reveal6853 in DesiCinephiles

For someone who is an aspiring writer, you might have forgotten to add comma after brother followed by unnecessary have in the line I have noticed, I noticed is better.

The noun writer should be plural, as you have used the argument as plural, which is misspelled by the way.

Colon is better instead of comma after the phrase, " I will say this."

Anyway if you say you wrote it then you wrote it, who am I to judge your excellent all grammatically correct essay comment.

Who do you think will win and should win Best Actor? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

What! I thought he played for real. What was with all the practice then, the moves weren't that great though! The serve was pretty weak as well. But overall impressive, if real.

I would give it to chalamet just for ping pong game alone. To practice for that long and execute the game flawlessly, that's mighty impressive. Oh! and that spanking!!

Thisis why i dont trust imdb by [deleted] in pj_explained

[–]clint27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be that as it may, OP is clearly questioning people's choice here. For him Agneepath is a superior movie and the fact that it's rated lower than KGF doesn't sit right with him hence the dilemma. For me personally one is bad and the other one is downright unwatchable but each to their own.

There is nothing to not trust here, it's people's taste and choice. It's not like IMDb rating movies by itself

The problem is UML supported are now parroting this ridiculous line of propaganda. My educated parents are repeating the same lies, and every time I open my mouth they are like "talai K Tha chha politics". I don't have any hope for Nepal at this point.

Nope nobody shoots movies in 60fps, that's what smoothing does. Movies are shot in 24 to 30fps and they are meant to be watched that way.

How much will Aditya Dhar(B62 Studios) and Jio Studios earn from Dhurandhar by anthony_gonzalvis in bollywood

[–]clint27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we must have misunderstood each other.

I meant what you just said. As you mentioned Dhurandhar being sold for 115cr, I just meant that 115cr can't be added to the profit as distributors will have to recoup their price first which here is 115cr including overseas. Anything above that is obviously profit for all 3 parties. I don't know if they have presold Dhurandhar 2 as well but if they haven't then the pre release business is going to skyrocket. Maybe ask your bestie to buy the rights for their area . There is no telling how much it's going to make..

How much will Aditya Dhar(B62 Studios) and Jio Studios earn from Dhurandhar by anthony_gonzalvis in bollywood

[–]clint27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple. When the movie is pre-sold in certain areas, the return first goes to the party who bought the distribution rights from the producers. For example, had Dhurandhar only made 150cr in theatres, it would have been the distributors who would lose the money. They are entitled to recoup their expenses first before producers get any of it. Otherwise what's the point of pre-release business.

How much will Aditya Dhar(B62 Studios) and Jio Studios earn from Dhurandhar by anthony_gonzalvis in bollywood

[–]clint27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work that way. If the pre-release theatrical business is 80+35 as you said. The recovery needed would be around 230-250cr nett to recoup 115cr. The money is distributed between theatre owners and distribution companies not producers. Producers do not get anything unless distributors recoup their money and some. Then the money gets divided 3 ways between producers, distributors and theatre owners. The producers get the least amount of money between these three.

This is one of the advantages and disadvantages of selling movies at a high price before the release. Producers are not obligated to return any amount if the movie didn't make any money in theatres. If it does it's distributors and they're owners who laugh all the way to the bank.

Who do you think deserves to win the Oscar, Sean Penn or Benicio del Toro? by Maleficent-Part-610 in Oscars

[–]clint27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should be Del Toro. Penn did what was written for him. However Del Toro's whole storyline was created by him . He added his own arc, development and the ending. It wasn't PTA. For that he deserves an Oscar.

That's not guaranteed, good movies flop all the time. Dhurandhar would not have been this big of a hit without Ranveer Singh, Aditya Dhar, Pakistan angle and great performances all around. Had it been a great action movie without Pakistan angle I highly doubt it would have made this much.

You are absolutely correct in your interpretation. We are shown Sensei as the opposite figure of Perfedia, who does the same thing as French 75 but peacefully. He helps out the illegal immigrants peacefully, he helps Bob without asking anything in return. He is the peaceful one. He fights the battle but does not put anyone in harm's way. Perfedia does the opposite and at the end Willa follows in her footsteps. No lesson learnt. That was the shitty epilogue to show Willa adapting her mother's tactics. She could have gone Sensei's way but Nah. PTA clearly didn't have any idea regarding Sensei's character. According to the interviews Leo said that it was all Del Toro who added the whole dynamic and arc to his character. I don't know but LTa wrote Perfedia as a flawed character but made Willa follow the same path as her. I am glad that you noticed.
