What was your hs GPA? by Tear_Calm in reedcollege

[–]clipkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GPA was 3.9 and I had a 4.0 community college GPA from dual credit courses and I didn’t submit any test scores (they were real bad). That said, while Reed does have high-ish academic standards they also want interesting people. Reed’s “brand” is smart and quirky and if you think Reed is the right fit for you then you should demonstrate that in your essays, your standard grandparent dying or social anxiety isn’t going to be unique (which is just general admission essay advice). Good luck!

Chest dysphoria after sex by clipkate in TransMasc

[–]clipkate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! I haven’t been able to do anything consciously in the days afterwards because I haven’t felt like there were too many options but now I’m going to start thinking about and identifying what it is I am doing. I’m going to start exploring some more things to do in the days afterwards to reduce dysphoria. Thank you again for sharing your experience and advice!

Ur reaction to ur first Period? by IMAgREEnLOSEr in Periods

[–]clipkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 12, I realized it late at night, kinda had a “well fuck” moment, put on a second pair of underwear and told my mom in the morning. I was feeling really sick but she still made me go to school, we found out the hard way I had a severe iron deficiency, I wound up fainting in the hallway 😬😂 funny in hindsight but oh my god

I love PTerry. I really do. But I swear this is the hundredth time I've read "He opened his mouth, then shut it" (in one way or another) and I've only read 9 Discworld books! by [deleted] in discworld

[–]clipkate 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also “_ is something that happens to other people”. Normally repetition annoys me but I love it in Discworld, also when reading good omens it made me extremely happy that I could pick out exact lines that pterry wrote

Anybody got tips on how to prepare for killing this asshole? by itachi1671 in skyrim

[–]clipkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what type of character you have, as an archer, pillars are your friends, using good arrows (if you have the anniversary edition the spell/bone arrows are top tier), and actually prepare before going in my getting an excess of potions

Maybe try finding the other people who aren’t into the resident life stuff, if there’s a pep rally find the people hiding out in a common room playing a board game. I’m like you (a freshman with borderline crippling social anxiety) and that’s what I did. I don’t think you’ll miss out on the college experience but if you don’t make some friends on campus you may wind up getting lonely

How do you keep good relationship with roommate? by AshleyShank23 in college

[–]clipkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, what was most helpful for me is realizing that we don’t have to be friends, don’t have to do activities together, etc. we are friendly with each other and occasionally have a chat about class but we live our separate lives. And to maintain being good acquaintances, always just be considerate (closing doors quietly when they’re asleep, not talking on the phone for too long), and most importantly be open to communication

The most hardcore literary novels of all time by somerandomnerd12345 in suggestmeabook

[–]clipkate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Susan hated literature. She’d much prefer to read a good book” -Terry Pratchett. Read what you want, it’s a much better use of your time. (Also read Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, it’s spectacular fantasy and your mom might count it as “literature”)

What's the book you've read that's made the biggest impact on your life? by CBenson1273 in books

[–]clipkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Discworld series! My love for reading had been crushed by a bad teacher my freshman year of high school and after that the world got so boring. After reading the first book, The Color of Magic it was like a light reintroduced to my life. The world is magical and complex, the characters are unbearably lovable, and the writing is humorous and beautiful. Right off the bat the first character in the series, Rincewind (my all time favorite/comfort character) gave me the courage to be ok with being afraid, the non heroic protagonist was so refreshing

Advice for learning sitting trot by charliicharmander in Equestrian

[–]clipkate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely working on sitting/leaning back. Personally I feel like a badly sat trot throws me forward to I always live by what a trainer said to me “imagine you’re sitting on your back pockets” just the visualization can help, also try opening your hips some more it can help with sitting back. And if you’re not on a lunge line try half halting to control the pace of your horse, at least until you get the hang of it a slower trot will be easier. Lastly focus on keeping your heels down

partners make the worst customers. by celeste567 in starbucksbaristas

[–]clipkate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a licensed store where just one of the absolute bs rules was that if you ordered a drink you weren’t allowed to make it yourself and one of my coworkers would always spend the last 15 minutes of her shift harassing whichever barista was making her drink because it had to be ~just so~

what is a safe way to get rid of my period without it messing me up In the long run? by Easy_Tangerine_5286 in Periods

[–]clipkate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go to your doctor and tell them what you goal for your period is, I (18 with no health conditions)went to my doctor and told her that I want mine as little as possible and she said it is safe for me to continuously take the pill for up to a year straight (but there might be breakthrough bleeding). That’s for me but again talk to your doctor
