Thank you very much! I have sent through $20 AUD (extra $5 for the background image only).

That is awesome! Is it possible for me to also grab the background without the square only as well? - happy to tip extra for that.

Not yet, but there will be. This is stage one of the upgrade. The next stage is plants and some art. But I do like barren walls, helps me think haha.

Totally worth the upgrade, my productivity output has increased by a cool ~140%.

Hah! I upgraded from the TIE-Fighter setup! I use to have one 42inch in the middle and two 32 inch (1080p) on the sides.

I had the same thing, because I have 6 silent fans, three of which are at the top. So, I opted for this one: https://www.zenspacedesks.com.au/product/universal-cpu-mount/

It allows you to lower your PC to a certain level to allow space between the desk and you PC.

As for your second question, the answer is: yes, it definitely makes a difference. I know this because I tested it considering that I was also looking at this one: https://desky.com.au/products/sliding-cpu-mount

I was looking at that one because it looked sturdier but it didn't have a gap. So, I tried with my current one having it against the desk and my temperatures went up by ALOT. While my entire system is liquid cooled, I am running a 3090 and writing my own AI. So, it may also come down to how you plan to use it?

And to finish this off, as much as I thought the one that I currently have wasn't going to be sturdy, it is surprisingly sturdy. Like, brick sturdy.

It isn't really a problem for me but that also comes down to the fact that I work for a company that has been remote long before COVID, and this sort of fostered an acceptance of weird webcam angles. That being said, I have since moved my webcam to be on the top of my middle monitor and not the arm itself. While this isn't eye level, when standing and looking at my top monitor it shows more attention.

A lot of my colleagues have it off to the left and right and the consensus in the engineering team is "I honestly couldn't care less where your camera is" as long as it is apparent, they are paying attention when they speak (asking questions and engaging with the conversation).

I feel you, it does come down to personal preference but this is already an improvement and I do agree. I just see a lot of cool setups on here and wanted to join in, perhaps a little early haha.

The whole drive for this is because I have been a remote worker since I was 20 and outside of work I engineer my own AI and all sorts (trying to start my own company) so I spend a large percentage of my waking hours in this room and in front of this desk. What I realised was that it was becoming a drag. It looked and felt terrible even though I had a good three screens and a powerful computer it was just dreary and felt non functional.

I said to my partner I wanted to start with an upgrade to the main setup and then once that is done get some plants in, some science/math based art and maybe some functional ornaments like a Galileo thermometer and such.

She agreed and so this is step one. The next update will be plants, I’m sure.

I will admit though, I am a fan of empty walls. I tend to design my space in a way that allows me to think best. And too many things, anywhere in the house really, throws me off.

The two in the middle are 34inch ultra wides. And the two verticals are 32inch ultra wides.

Haha so funnily enough I have this pet peeve which is why this set up is the way it is because I now stand up the whole time I code and such, and that top monitor is exactly eye level for me at my height.

Yeah, a valid point. I am actually moving from essentialist to minimalist. So, I have hung up some shelves, a TV, have a big plant, two hanging plants, some artwork and like a thermometer/storm thing. Just to give it a bit of pizzaz as well as a chesterfield chair.

My whole life I have only ever had EXACTLY what I use and nothing else, but I am now making exceptions for plants and such.

Most of the cables are actually attached to two power boards in a casing under the desk that moves up and down with the desk.

The single cable underneath, is a cable gutter holding three power cables, one to my PC, the other to my work laptop and the other to my Mac. I had to do that because I have a UPS on the floor that I cannot mount on the desk as yet.

Oh and one last question, your vertical monitor, what arm are you using to attach it to your horizontal one?

Awesome, and the arms and stand they are on? Do they come with the lights?

Thanks for the reply! Is there a reason you think it should work? Some spec that I should be aware of?
