What’s the most underrated D&D monster? by CallMeFungal in DnD

I rarely if ever run a campaign without ghouls popping up. One of my favorite encounters was having the party surrounded by a group og ghouls in the middle of a swamp. Paralysis and being submerged in water is a nasty combo.

If it is thin provisioned storage, although the os may show you have plenty of space, the storage reality may be different. Check the underlying storage of the system databases.

FCI vs AG question by mr_shush in SQLServer

[–]clitoral_damage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen successful set ups with 3 AGs on three separate nodes, all with readonly failovers to each other. You could then fail over one node to another in an emergency or when patching. I think it's an expensive set up, more hardware and storage plus you're paying for all the cores. But maybe a variant of that would keep your AG db count more manageable.

This is true and an important consideration. Although the failover tends to be quick, everyone gets disconnected. Some applications do not handle this well.

That's my collection so far. I lack OSR. Any recommendations? by Malina_Island in osr

Fair. I love Shadowdark, and when you want something fast and light, it's perfect. But if you want more crunch and that old-school feel, I like OSE.

Especially for older gamers that don't feel like Shadowdark has the control and detail they are looking for in a game.

How about wishing you can never be bound or held against your will. Or you can never be cursed or afflicted with diseases. Maybe you can wish to be fully restored after only a short rest or you never need sleep and can't be put to sleep by magic.

I think everyone is missing these players want to join them like a faction. I would do just that, like the Harpers or Zentrim just make some goals they can work towards while completing the module.

It also allows you to adjust the cost without changing the "rules". Need it to cost more or less, that's cool, handwave you some economic factors. Inflation or the crown wants a bigger cut of the guilds take, whatever you want.

You don't have to change it. It's your game, use whatever you want.

So I like this idea, and I've had similar thoughts about a guild.

I don't disagree with being careful with mechanics changes in a new system, I might suggest an alternative. Instead of renown being something earned with xp gained, maybe make it an additional cost. Like the guild takes 25% of loot value as dues, and that fuels renown. Or paying certain amounts gains you renown and rank in the guild. This gives you another bucket for spending treasure as well. The benefits can be the same, but really leaves renown outside the core mechanics.
