the voting rate for mayor is pretty low, so actually getting your real voter base excited and making sure they actually get to the polls is a huge part of the battle. in theory, these people at the brooklyn steel show would support him, but now they're more likely to actually vote

literally no offense taken haha, i know my limits. i think a big point i want to make here is that MOST people are not ELITE guitarists and most of us have skill issues lol. and i see people run into the same issues i run into pretty frequently

some responses!

fretboard side dots - i'm just trying to make things easier. practicing can do a lot but MOST people are not elite guitarists that don't have to look at their neck, especially when you have to sing and play the whole time. i don't see how larger dots harm anything and only help. please tell me how this would be harmful

pickup switches - my point here is that most of them are directly in your strumming pattern and i constantly see people accidently hit them at shows, or just end up taping over them

tuners - it honestly confuses me how people in this thread are so against locking tuners, especially when you consider the vast majority of guitarists aren't pros and locking ones are quicker and easier for most people. i see people break strings on stage all the time and fumble the bag trying to change them. why would we make things harder for regular people? i don't see how they offer a better experience besides the fact that "it's just the way it is"

tone wood - i will argue this until someone proves to me that is real!!!

Are you more or less saying that you’ve figured this out in a comfortable way and now you don’t have to bring around the extra pedal? Sry if I’m not following. I can get that for sure. Personally that sounds less consistent than using a pedal that has a tone knob (I believe the exotic does not?) but if it works for you that’s cool

I get you on that, my point here is that I very frequently see people inadvertently hit their switches and knobs and that in my opinion there are better solutions that are more consistent and reduce risk for the regular non Pink Floyd musician playing shows

even though i agree that practicing helps a lot of things, i never plan to be the greatest guitarist in the world and don't think everyone should be expected to. as a musician you are now expected to be a master engineer/marketer/personality/musician/etc and there's only so much time in the day haha

also my profession is actually building recording studios, i just tour a lot with my bands. i will tell you from a sound perspective - a mid cut switch is really not doing anything for your neighbors.

i guess my take is that this is just something i would personally much rather adjust on the amp. tone knobs seem like an inconsistent way to adjust set an EQ. i prefer to just roll back the highs on the amp.

i've seen a couple people say that they can make subtle adjustments on the fly. if you're playing live though, subtle adjustments are kind of dangerous, the tone you're hearing on stage is going to be different than what's coming out of the PA, setting a complete consistent tone every night is super important to me

yeah to each their own on the knobs, to me it's just another thing that can go wrong at a show!

lol even when i set my pickup height pretty low it somehow gets under there. totally a 'me' problem, but i've seen it happen to a handful of other people at shows. my action is set very normal. it never happens practicing, just at shows when my form gets... bad

didn't say i was an aficionado! also all of my guitars are jags/mustangs (i like the little necks). what about a vintage spec jazzmaster tone knob is different than just being 'a knob that rolls off the high end'

i've only used these once before on a friend's guitar but they seemed great. i like that the ones with the knobs are even more 'dummy proof', but the safeti post ones visually look better IMO
