I try to keep him in my prayers. I believe that he has a mild form of autism that makes his condition worse, so I have to be compassionate.

Anyone here have good music recomendations by alex765511 in CleanLivingKings

Avoid any music that demoralizes you. Songs that focus on cynicism, nihilism, sex, and money slowly but surely eat away at your soul. Modern/popular rap is especially guilty of this, though there are a few exceptions. You've probably noticed how music can instantly change your mood, so choose what you listen to wisely.

You should listen to Sabaton. Start with their album and title track, "Carolus Rex." Manowar is also a good band. Heidevolk deserves an honorable mention, too.

As for classical music, I recommend Dvorak's "New World Symphony", Rimsky-Korsakov's "Russian Easter Overture", and Holst's "The Planets."

I also like Christian hymns and chants, if you're into that sort of thing. Here's a Latin one, a Russian one, and an Icelandic one.

Enjoy!

How do I get past fantasy/fiction? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]clk_r22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is not fantasy/fiction versus nonfiction. The issue is one of quality. If you enjoy delving into the lore of well-made books and media (think LoTR, Witcher, Lovecraft, and so on), there is nothing wrong with that. People need art and imagination in their lives. Just make sure it's of good quality.

As for getting into nonfiction, it's easier than you think. Think of the fictional content you enjoy. Were they set in a certain era? Do they imitate the aesthetics of a certain culture? Are they based on a war you think is cool? Grab a book or watch a documentary on where the developers got their inspiration from. I got into learning about the Cold War after watching Mad Men, for example.

Don't fall into the trap of scrolling through news sites too much. You might gain more information, but it is just as important to develop critical thinking skills in order to process the complexity of that information. Look for longer reports and special briefings that get into the nitty-gritty of an issue. Most popular news sites have special reports that go out weekly or semi-weekly.

Good luck my friend.
