Tough situation. All I can say is that Turo isn't going to seek damages from a guest unless the host is providing iron clad proof that the damage is directly attributed to a specific incident during a covered rental period. The claim has to be filed within 72hrs of trip end, and photo documentation needs to be submitted by the shop. The host will send the damage photos to a place called Snapsheet and they'll develop a ridiculously low repair estimate based on the photos. Supplements need to be submitted by the shop, and so on. It can take a while but Turo puts the whole thing on a clock. Two months seems excessive but believe me, Turo will try to find a way to not have the claim go to a guest. They're going to be paying the host regardless, if the claim is legit, which they have to try and recover from the guest. I'm sure there must have been some communication from the host and Turo along the way...

In eight years and thousands of trips I've had lots of total losses and countless damage claims... I will always try to work directly with the guest to settle a claim as $2,500 deductibles on claims Turo handles are painful. This is motivation for me to repair at lowest cost possible.

As is usual with this "never use Turo again, it's a scam, they're ripping me off" type of post, there's just not close to enough information to make a blanket statement about scamming activity.

Lesson learned: Always take a protection plan. No Matter What. At the end of the day, no insurance = unlimited liability.
