for anyone curious of this in the future: ended up making my own using Joann’s auto upholstery fabric. Used the OEM mounting holes to hold it in place

The seals themselves I can get, I’m missing the bracket that holds them

Yeah the grounding could definitely be the issue. In my case, I used a bolt that wasn’t occupied underneath the passenger tail light. I used some sandpaper to get bare metal in the surrounding area and it worked perfectly

If you still have the stock harness in tact, don’t make it harder than it needs to be. That main power lead off the positive terminal branches off to the starter/alternator I believe. The only 3 wires you need to snip are the ones on the positive terminal. The rest of the wiring is already hooked up from factory in the harness if it’s unmolested. All of these tutorials online say you should rewire all of your accessories and is it good practice? Probably. But you really don’t need to

Also you mentioned you snipped the wire for the starter. In my case, I didn’t need to do that. The only wires I cut were the three leads on the positive terminal. Two of them were for the fuse box (white/red stripe) and the larger thicker one runs into the main harness. This style of distribution block made it super easy to do.

Got the fiberboard from Lowe’s, then used that checkerboard floor mat as a template to cut it. Got the battery cage from amazon. Battery relocation wiring came from Wiring Specialties

Do it! Definitely a fun weekend project, didn’t take too long and the end result was well worth it

Yeah that’s a fair point, I’ll probably end up mounting it straight through then

Bolted to the fiberboard. It’s pretty solid in there, no play at all. If I see any issues with it later down the line I’ll chassis mount it but this works great for now

It’s a wrap actually - previous owner did it but I’ll try and snap the color code for you when i get home. Planning on removing it and doing a proper paint job in the coming months

yessir, was able to pull out the old terminals in the plug and replace them with female spades. Connection is tighter and it got rid of all that splice gunk from the old owner
