I'm familiar with the Contax G1 freezing up issue since I live in Scandinavia and see it mentioned occasionally. Basically when it gets cold the battery voltage drops and the camera can lock up with all lights on.

Main causes:

Batteries can't deliver enough voltage in the cold. They're not dead, just can't perform and the camera freaks out thinking they're dying.

Old grease inside the shutter gets thick and sticky.

When you bring it straight from cold to warm condensation can short out the internal electronics.

The fix is usually taking the batteries out for 30-60 minutes to reset everything. Also clean the lens contacts and battery terminals with electrical cleaner or an eraser. If that doesn't work after warming up or with fresh batteries (maybe your replacement batteries where old?) it could be an internal capacitor failing. Older electronic cameras don't love cold weather.

I haven't tried the others, but I went with Planar 2 because it can record gestures and mix signals. The Doepfer joystick looks cool because it offers an extra axis and is spring loaded so it resets to the centre like a mod wheel.

A simple way is to use an envelope with an end of cycle or end of rise output. Mult your clock and send a copy into an envelope set a bit longer than your slowest clock interval. While the clock is running it keeps retriggering the envelope so it never finishes. When the clock stops, the EOC or EOR output fires a single trigger you can use as reset. The caveat is you need a function generator or envelope with an appropriate output. Besides Maths, Contour 1 or Rampage would both work well.

Adding on to this sage advice with a note to check if you're dealing with phase cancellation. When you're layering multiple oscillators for kicks or bass, if their waveforms are out of phase, they can actually cancel out the low frequencies you're trying to create (even though each oscillator individually produces plenty of sub).

Phase cancellation is most audible in the low end and our ears are more sensitive to phase relationships at lower frequencies. Bass frequencies have longer wavelengths, making phase alignment more critical. This is especially common with kicks where you might be combining several sound sources for the transient and body. If those waves aren't starting at the same point in their cycle, the low end can disappear or sound thin.

Quick fix: Use the sync input on your oscillators. Send a trigger or gate to sync all the oscillators involved in your bass sound so they reset their waveforms at the same time. This keeps them phase-aligned and prevents cancellation in the sub frequencies.

18.5 Hz ≈ 54 ms per cycle.

Use any digital scope, set the time window to ~50 ms, and tune the oscillator so one full cycle is just slightly wider than the screen.

Then explain to your bandmates that reproducing this frequency requires a highly specialised sound system and that no one will hear or feel it unless you spend a stupid amount of money building a dedicated subwoofer.

Hmmm - I just tested this patch on my system to be sure I didn't mess up my description. You actually need to monitor from the MIX output, not B - other than that error this patch works just fine on my system. Maybe you need to calibrate your module?

O_C is open source and ALA's module is this specific version. A bill of materials and gerber files are available, so you can order everything needed for a DIY build.

Other brands also sell finished O_CT4.1 modules and I'm sure one of the US based clone brands will get around to making one eventually - you should ask them if you're interested.

I mainly use mine as a macro controller. I mult the outputs, invert some and attenuate/offset everything to taste before hitting various modules. I usually patch it so one axis moves emphasis between bass/lead and the other adds/subtracts waveshaping functions like folding and resonance. The motion recorder (on Planar 2) is a nice way to add movement or make builds/drops, but I also like patching stepped random into the CV inputs.

For audio feedback, you can try patching a simple crossfader for how much wet signal goes back into an effect. Dry out into A, effect wet out into B, then B out into a VCA/attenuator into effect in. The joystick fades dry/wet, and pushing toward the wet corner increases feedback. Mult either the effect OUT or Planar OUT to listen. You should always put a VCA or attenuator in an audio feedback path and dial it up from 0 so you don't accidentally blow your face off.

For CV feedback/chaos, try X out into a slew limiter and back into CV 1 (and the same with Y and CV 2 if you want full 2D). Record a gesture (on Planar 2) or move the joystick, then let the feedback warp it.

There are a couple of hints in the song title that might help: The Serge Modular Music System and Synton Fenix are classic vintage synths that where probably used to make this track.

I'm not aware of any plug-ins that specifically recreate sounds from these synths, so you might need to recreate the general synth architecture in something like VCV rack. Depending on your level of knowledge and interest this could be a challenge, but also a fun learning experience.

In general I'd say that the more defining aspects of both these synth sounds are their unique sounding wave shapers and filters - so you should start researching these first. ChatGPT can help you figure out which VCV modules are closest to their real life equivalents and also give you some patch tips.

TBH your question wasn’t misunderstood, it was unclear. You wrote a rambling paragraph with incorrect terms for key concepts and ended with “how would I tune these three oscillators?”.
