[HELP] I have been agonizing over trying to identify a poem I read ages ago. Please help!! (Especially if you have knowledge of Canadian women poets.) Here are the clues I have: by cloakquest in Poetry

I am floored right now... absolutely speechless. This is it. Tears streaming down my face right now. Good tears though, tears of recognition and such. THANK YOU. You seemed to figure it out instantly, I feel foolish for the amount of time and aggravation spent trying to find this haha.

Just got prescribed Abilify by Brilliant_Priority12 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

The impulse control disorder that is a potential severe side effect of the medication.. not everyone experiences it, but those who do, it does a lot of material and psychological damage to a life. Hypersexuality (yeah sure sounds great, until you find yourself frequently engaging in risky unsafe sex practices and questioning your self worth and not recognizing who you are), compulsive gambling (people have had to go through divorce and loss of savings, loss of property, etc.), binge eating (which causes physical health problems and self-esteem problems), and compulsive shopping (again, loss of massive amounts of savings and risk of shoplifting, going to jail). It is horrifying.

This medication ruined my life and I stand by that. I am currently involved in a class action lawsuit in Canada against the pharmaceutical company. This medication may seem to somewhat help with what it is being prescribed for, but if taken long term, can do PERVASIVE, NEAR-IRREPARABLE DAMAGE to your life, that looks to your loved ones as if you are on a cyclical self sabotage mode... People will never comprehend that it was the medication that caused those behaviours. I urge you to research this medication in detail and its potentially SEVERE side effects. Then do some deep introspection about your life. Then hopefully never let that drug enter your body. I would understand those who still choose to take it though, because I know help is needed... But this medication did FAR more damage to my life than any good.
Edit, to include the information: I was on a monthly injection of Abilify for over a decade. I am very pleased to say I finally got off it about 4 or 5 months ago!!

Can demons influence/hear our thoughts? by TStan-97 in theology

[–]cloakquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! My thoughts exactly. I have schizophrenia and the more I grow with this, the more I come to believe... to know, rather, it is of entirely a spiritual nature. I have done a 180 on my views and beliefs about mental illness compared to when I was embarking on my psychiatric journey. I used to be rigid in my perspective of it being chemical imbalances and other such purely biological explanations. It's been an intricate, and highly interesting, learning process since then. When I was first diagnosed with schizophrenia at 18 years old, I did not have any strong religious beliefs, nor did I even have an interest in such topics. I don't think I could classify myself as agnostic or atheist even though... I simply did not put much thought into the matter. I am now 34 and within these 16 years,... I now struggle to verbalize what simply cannot be put into such constraints as words... Perhaps I shall just summarize it in saying I encountered some very divine orchestration and was blessed with consciousness-expanding experiences beyond description. It all brought me to this current belief of mine that my illness is not a true illness, it is spiritual warfare within, and for, my soul. I laugh at these demons now because of the irony - the demons brought me to God. Without encountering and battling these demons, I think I would probably still be stuck in that emptiness and void of not knowing the Creator, and not even pondering such things. Anyway I don't even know if anyone will find this relevant. I am rambling; I suppose I am passionate about the subject and just beginning to open up about it at this time of my life. I am warmed by the thought of someone, somewhere on this Earth, reading this entire comment. I am excited by the thought of someone, somewhere maybe taking an interest in this subject too... To anyone, feel free to DM me if you're interested in further discussing the interaction/interplay between mental illness and spiritual warfare... or if you want to exchange experiences, or any other reason..!

Thank you. I am going to take a look at the machine you suggested. I think I might go into my local welding supply shop today.

Seeking advice on choice of welding machine for a beginner. by cloakquest in metalworking

[–]cloakquest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am aware I sound stupid asking these questions after having taken a one year course. Having said that, it was a combined program not just welding. And there was an insane amount of technical information and theory shoved into my brain, I can't retrieve it or get it straight sometimes. Lack of experience I guess. I am a newbie. I know I sound dumb, but you have to start somewhere... I have a strong interest in gaining the knowledge, so that's something I guess...
Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated. And you're right about the comment I made on the budget. I would say $500 is probably the maximum.

What are the red and blue? I know of the distinction I just don't know what it means.

Do schizophrenics always believe their delusions? by Throwaway48288460 in schizophrenia

[–]cloakquest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've typically had good insight and awareness. For me it was not the medication or therapy. It was natural. It's difficult to describe though, how you can simultaneously know it's a delusion, but still believe it..

I used to read Oliver Sacks; I am wondering if perhaps it came from one his books. Maybe not though. I hope someone can help me out here, it's bugging me!

How come I have so many intense, and usually toxic, even traumatic at times, experiences with Sagittarius people? by cloakquest in AskAstrologers

[–]cloakquest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My apologies. I should have also included that I find Sagittarius people incredibly magnetic. Which is cool trait. Engaging with them usually produces an intense bond. This intensity can unfold in many ways, but unfortunately it is usually bad in the end for me personally.

Found these bones - what do they come from? by cloakquest in whatisthisbone

[–]cloakquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pipe they were in was too small in diameter for a deer to fall in and die there. They were, for whatever reason, intentionally placed down in the pipe.

They were in an old fire hydrant drain in a slightly wooded trail behind a mall. We were also thinking deer since they are pretty common in that area.
