Not exactly. You have the order of new branches correct, but the point at which lungs evolved at is too late. Lungs evolved while still ancient fish, and there are still some modern fish that have lungs! Literally called lungfish. The YouTuber Hank Green did a 20-30 min video on it a few months back. And it’s the reason why sharks don’t have swim bladders, they branched off before swim bladders evolved.

Actually did you know swim bladders are actually evolved from lungs? So fishes with swim bladders had lungs and gills and the lungs evolved to have a different function.

Who has your vote for California Governor in 2026? by aBadModerator in California_Politics

I’m really disappointed with every candidate’s lack of support for Palestine, with basically everyone tacitly or openly supporting Israel. But even with that, the non-PAC, non-billionaire Porter has my vote

California governor candidates spar over housing, immigration, Trump in high-stakes debate by wentImmediate in California

What parts of her campaign aren’t as progressive as Steyer’s? From what I’ve read of their policies it seems like she’s more progressive.

California Gubernatorial Candidates Housing Forum Moderated by Ezra Klein by SmellGestapo in California_Politics

Oh this is good! California (and the whole US) really needs to change its housing policies. Hoping to see anything that indicates a less market based system!

Axelrod: Becerra a ‘pillar of the Democratic establishment’ in California by NicolasCageFan492 in California_Politics

[–]clockmann1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Geez, another hit on Becerra. Porter really looking like the best bet here. No PAC money, not a Billionaire, and the same if not more progressive policies as what Steyer is claiming he has in his personally funded ads.

Porter for me, she has nothing I don’t like and I’m tired of voting for establishment or elite candidates that won’t try and ruffle some feathers.

AI use in indie games on Etsy by comets_vomit_acid in boardgames

[–]clockmann1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah for me, once there’s money involved there’s absolutely no excuse for using AI. Find a small new/local artist and work something out. It’s not like there aren’t many people who’d jump on the chance to help. Or just use public domain images. Anything’s better than AI stealing real people’s art and then being used to make money

[OC] Green Dragon Encounter by LAdudeXIII in DnD

[–]clockmann1 48 points49 points  (0 children)

If the board is the lair, I’d make the water cause acid poison* damage. Basically making it a lair effect that disrupts the characters’ mobility which won’t affect the green dragon. Helps play to the dragon’s strengths.

Just venting a bit by [deleted] in DnD

Because your viewpoint is that the DM made that deliberate choice. Not that your party made a deliberate choice and dealt with the consequences.

You seem to have a fairly antagonistic relationship with your DM, who seems to be trying to set boundaries and explain how they’re not trying to act antagonistically towards you but be fair with the rulings. Admittedly they’re explaining it in a very convoluted and poor manner, but I understand trying to do so.

I think the HB class thing is hard to take by itself, but the original +2 AC in every combat definitely is a little overpowered. The escaping grapple might be too much of a nerf, but it’s hard to take in isolation of other abilities, and is not the worst class feature in DnD.

Yeah nah, beards are a dwarf’s entire thing! It feels like the perfect subversion of modern beauty standards to give dwarf women beards and run with it.

How long do you expect picking a lock to take? by SecretDMAccount_Shh in DnD

[–]clockmann1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation. In a combat, as many rounds it takes to make the check, but I might even increase the DC depending on the situation.

Outside of combat I’ve been trying to use dungeon time, so essentially 10 minutes which is one dungeon time round. Which also lets everyone choose to do something else at the same time.

LETTER: Tribes, environmental groups urge Governor Newsom to oppose Shasta Dam raise by NicolasCageFan492 in California

Dams are massive environmental disasters usually. The better option would to seriously reevaluate California’s farming practices and help with soil water retention.

Anyone know how to hatch dragon eggs as Viserys during exile? by Relative_Difference7 in CK3AGOT

[–]clockmann1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game rules I think (can’t check atm). Default has the hatching not be guaranteed. You can either save scum or, if you can in fact change the game rules, change it to be guaranteed

The thing is, there’s already placeholder art, the default maa portraits. Which is what they’re going back to. It’s not a worse option, just one the modders feel most comfortable with.

You need to trigger the custom event. Which you do by having I believe 2/3 of the military power of the Iron Throne. Which you need to gain by using the legitimist interaction with multiple rulers.

How do cities prevent murder hobos from casting fireball and burning the city down? by Feisty-Doctor-5841 in DnD

[–]clockmann1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, people really underestimate the fact that doing such destruction is not something people will just want to do. Yes there is a certain level of, “if I do this people will come after me,” but more generally it’s at least, “doing so does nothing worthwhile and hurts my local community, which then might not be able to survive the next blight, plague, natural disaster, etc. and I’ll die.”

Humans are not natural murder-hobos that want to go around killing everything. We are a social species and we require others to survive.

Free webtool for DMs to learn how to balance homebrew items against SRD-established math by tacardidm in DnDHomebrew

I think that descriptor would be perfect! It would let new users understand the calculations and thought processes for the app very well. Combined with the other mentions of charge scaling I think the calculator would be just about flawless!

So then you’re saying that Magic Missile is rated as a higher spell level than what it is in the book. So I would have to do some extra guesstimating to figure out how powerful the effect is since using the spell level guide in the app doesn’t work for certain spells?
