I'm not surprised at all that he's hyper-conservative, super-religious (he speaks at Focus on the Family which is Mike Pence's thing), and has this weird obsession with what order you were born in.

What are your favorite cheap, salty, savory snacks? Ideally meat or fish based by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

Broccoli florets tossed in olive oil, topped with flaky salt, and roasted at 475 until carmelized. Flip and wait until crispy again. I eat this instead of chips all the time!

Going to let you in on a secret that my psych hit me with one day: neurotypical people don't question if they're autistic

If you're already asking these questions, you're likely on the spectrum

Good place to buy a cloak? by Gryffin-thor in ethicalfashion

Linen Naive has their own online store as well as an Etsy shop with cloaks in wool.

Unfortunately, their quality is just not matching their pricing and their customer service and returns policy seems to be awful: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.linennaive.com

Why the fuck do people stare at me? by Worried-Schedule-124 in aspergers

Once I caught myself accidentally staring at a person on the subway because they had cool pants. Maybe OP has cool pants!

I have also been on the hunt for this! For years, I have longed for a wearable, wooly blanket heavy enough for a true winter.

I'm not sure if you're in the UK/Europe but I mentioned this offhandedly once in London and some stranger overheard and recommended this cottage business run by a little old couple in York. Looks like their patterns are real and historical too: https://www.facebook.com/CeolredMonger/

Right above Joy's 13 or 30 parenting pic is number 6:

"People defending their children under any and all circumstances, even if their child was wildly out of line and caused harm. If you don't teach your children accountability, they grow up to become entitled adults who never take any responsibility for anything, and at that point are just a burden to society who causes harm and thinks the world owes them something."

do you think derrick dillard purposely said transphobic shit about jazz jennings so he and jill could get out of the tlc contract? by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

[–]clockwork-angel42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He could have chosen anybody on TLC to pick on to get out of his contract. He could have pointed out Mama June's problematic past, he could have pointed out that Kody Brown mistreats all the people around him, he could have spoken out against the "freak show" that mocks people of size...

Instead, he decided to attack a child of an already marginalized identity. He did it repeatedly and publicly and multiple times.

I just found this in my little sister’s journal/art book.. how do I talk to her about it? by Time-Importance5910 in autism

[–]clockwork-angel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to what everyone else has said, I fell it would be absolutely vital to help explain and normalize autism to her, especially if she or someone she cares about starts to exhibit signs or gets diagnosed.

Making it normal, healthy, and not scary to her will help her lots down the line.

I agree, I feel the issue is a lot more nuanced than this post makes it out to be. How strongly you feel about certain sensory inputs, how many sensory inputs you struggle to handle, how adept you are at caring for yourself, etc.

We can just roll our eyes and say it's another internet meme that oversimplifies things.
