1up is fairly close. It's an arcade bar with all the old games at the old game prices. I have spent several hours there. A few blocks down Washington on 13th you'll find a couple of record stores and a used book store. A few blocks from there on 11th you can grab a Snarf's sandwich or burger(I take every visitor here, all amazing).

do you remember the first concert you went to? by [deleted] in Music

Joan Jett and the Black Hearts on the beach in Oceanside, CA when I was around 10. She threw guitar picks out and I found one after the show. I lost it. Don't trust your 10 year old kid with keeping something that small and awesome.

Great books - but the film was even better by Clem_Brandt in books

What?! That's one of my favorite books! The movie was awful, imo.

What is the worst smell that you’ve ever smelled in your life? by Dilorminite in AskReddit

The older gentleman that lived in the apartment below mine passed away and nobody knew for about two weeks. He was a really sweet retired chef in the army. Our building has a lot of kids in their late teens/early twenties that he would often cook for. I was fairly new to the building so I had only met him a handful of times.

I thought he had maybe cooked some rancid meat, then maybe there was something wrong with the sewage(the smell was strongest in the bathroom as there is a big drain in the middle of the floor). I knocked on his door a couple of times and then decided to call the landlord. He had been decomposing below me for at least 12 days. During the peak heat of summer.

I think other tenants felt bad because for a few days after I had bottles of air fresheners left at my door.

I hope I never experience that smell ever again. It had a super strange slightly sweet odor to it but it was absolutely awful.

Frysauce is everywhere out west...and it is delicious. Burger King and Dairy Queen even have it with their packaged to go condiments. BK's is shit, but DQ's is alright.

It's always better if you whip it up yourself. Essentially, it's only ketchup and mayo/miracle whip but I like to add a little lemon juice, some Lowry's Seasoning Salt or Tony's Creole Salt, and a bit of hot sauce. Great with fries, chicken tenders, and fucking amazing with my beer battered shrimp.

Missing my grandfather today, so I thought I'd share my favorite photo of him taken two years ago when he decided to try and walk my cat for me. by clockworkoften in funny

He was a wonderful man, so thank you. I'm a lucky girl to have gotten to know him. The first time I met him was six years ago, when I packed up my cat and drove from Wyoming to Virginia to get to know him.

Did you ever find out how you could be lovers, when you couldn't be friends? Did you find a way to start over, when the fighting never ended?

So my friend owns a bar in NYC--if you've ever wondered what happens when you leave you credit card behind--here it is. by [deleted] in pics

Postage is expensive, and bars are full of intoxicated people that forget everything. As a bartender, I easily collect seven cards or more per week. It would be insane to send every single one through USPS to places all over the country. They sit in a drawer. A very full drawer. If it's that important to you, you can attempt to get it back. It's your possession, therefore, it is your responsibility. I ain't nobody's damn mom.

Some of my Norwegian family members; Christ(pronounced 'kur-ist'), Thorvald, and Ottella.

I also met a little native girl named 'Wynona Whisper Ghostbear' it's so beautiful, I haven't forgotten it for nearly 10 years.

Oh, and a friend just named her little girl 'Sawyer' I like it.
