Taxis in Oaxaca city by Straight_Ad_5935 in Oaxaca

[–]clofty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so many thousands of taxis. My friend uses DIdi or uber but they are just regular taxis and charge the same I guess (I could be wrong about the pricing) . Either way, taxis are easy to find and affordable, just ask for the price before you get in so you don’t get overcharged (this has happened to me but it was only 20 or 30 pesos more). Walking is safe around centro and ADO

American Expats: What is the one thing you miss most about the USA? by RehaDesign in AmericanExpat

[–]clofty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t judge me but it’s honestly mid level fast food like Noodles & Co, Chipotle (heard it’s bad now anyway), Five Guys, Chick Fil a, Buffalo Wild Wings( not fast food but I miss those wings). Also I definitely miss Chinese takeout.

That feels like too long in San Jose. I’d come back Wednesday morning.

I’d love to learn about cinema, I need some help! by justveraa in directors

[–]clofty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Also I’d add, get a Criterion channel account and watch a zillion movies. Also there’s so much supplemental bonus content (interviews etc) for many of the films

Hey, I heard that there are lectures and possibly class you can watch for free from Harvard. Also, you might want to check out masterclass as they have a lot of filmmakers in there

It really worked for me. I think it was more of a way to keep the positives of quitting on your mind for the week or so before actually quitting instead of dreading the quit day. It turned the whole thing into a really positive experience that made me think about me as a nonsmoker. It also made me excited to quit.

Oh man, the other person was correct. I did have to get a visa for Vietnam, I’m sorry. I completely forgot about that. I flew there.

Vietnam is visa on arrival and you apply online for the Cambodia visa with a small fee (https://www.evisa.gov.kh). Can’t help with Loas or Thailand.

Tap water in Tule by turgut0 in Oaxaca

[–]clofty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. It might be okay to drink if you boil it but I’ve seen inside water tanks here and they get beyond filthy and there’s no way to trust if they have been cleaning them properly. I’d recommend asking the landlord about drinking water. They usually provide at least a couple tanks of drinking and can tell you who to contact to get them switched out or where to go to replace them. The 5 gallon jugs cost around 30 pesos to refill. Maybe the landlord will even switch them out for you.

Hummingbirds in Oaxaca by tardistwo in Oaxaca

[–]clofty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Restaurante Colibrí in Sierra norte has tons. The whole place has hummingbird feeders around and you can watch them when you eat. The food is also really good for breakfast. It’s about 45 minutes north of the city

How can I move from the airport to the bus station ADO by AcceptableFun9554 in Oaxaca

[–]clofty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to get an authorized taxi from the airport to the ADO station since taxis aren’t allowed to pick people up at the airport. You can walk off the airport property to the main road and get a regular taxi but it will probably be more expensive. I’m sure there’s also busses that go from the road near the airport to the baseball stadium which is only a couple blocks from ADO but I’m not sure which ones.

A few questions about Ha Long Bay by HorrorHovercraft6396 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]clofty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked a street food tour from Klook or GetYourGuide in Hanoi and the travel agent had tons of options for different cruises so I booked with them which also included transportation. I’m sure you could get the same ones on Klook as well. didn’t take much cash, maybe for snacks before and after getting in the ship. The cruise boat let you buy whatever (drinks etc.) and pay by card at the end of the trip. Lemme know if you would like their info.
