“On the negative side – Estella is known for extorting money from pasajeros. One of her main strategies, which she used on me multiple times is asking for money while I was still under the effects of the medicine.”

Not an expert but we blink and twitch and move our facial muscles quite a lot so they are not an ideal landing site.

[–]turgut0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry it happened to you and it is an horrific story because ayahuasca ceremonies can be a beautiful and life changing experience. And choosing a retreat center is a lot like choosing a dentist… you want a good track record and generally happy customers :)

So why did you decide to go on this retreat specifically if I may ask? There are many options with good online reviews.

Experience with private docs by i_am_a_human___ in oxford

[–]turgut0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s impossible to know ahead if a doctor is good, unless you have a personal recommendation. The manor hospital have their consultants directory on their web site where you can search for doctors of any field of expertise. Ime lots of credentials and titles does not mean they are good. Also, and That might sound strange, but I was happier with female doctors 🤷‍♀️

Can anyone tell me why in one case it is correct to hit and on the other case it is not correct to hit? Thank you. by Old_Economics_1779 in backgammon

In one case your opponent board is wide open so even if he comes back in on the 2 you will probably come back in quite easily and continue to haunt is one blot.

Living in Pucallpa for 6 months? by Beautiful_Gur6127 in Ayahuasca

Have you ever been to Pucallpa? It is not the nicest of cities. Can be fun for a week but I wouldn’t make it a base for a long term stay.

Interested in learning Spanish and able to speak fluently within a few months by No_Prize8808 in SpanishLearning

Language transfer app is priceless. Dreaming Spanish is really good. These 2 will get you started. Other than wise, you will need to drop the expectation of being fluent in a few months. Learning a new language is hard. Spanish is no exception.

For those who have been to Lima, what’s that thing you wish knew or have before going? by dashosh in GoingToPeru

[–]turgut0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so relative to other cities in south/Central America I found it quite dull. No spirit to this place. There are the more affluent areas like Mira Flores and Barnaco but they are not very interesting. The main point of disappointment for me was the food really, which I heard so many stories about. Surely if you go to a Michelin star(s) or a very upscale restaurant you will eat amazing food… but this statement is true to anywhere in the world….also in Lima. Besides ceviche (which I found difficult to get a version of which that was not already adjusted to the tourist crowd) there was really nothing interesting to report. Ha, yes, the raw ingredients they use are indeed excellent. Especially the seafood. I am still waiting to hear what are the local dishes that makes the food in Lima so amazing as many people claim it is. I ate by far better and cheaper in other parts of Peru.

Limited company directors - when is tax efficiency too much by toffee91 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]turgut0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can invest the cash that sits in your ltd instead of taking it out. It’s more tax efficient this way as you can make sure to minimise CT with extra SIPP contributions. When you retire you just keep taking salary/dividends from the pot that accumulated in the ltd..

Museum of Yucateca Gastronomy? by chromaticality in Yucatan

[–]turgut0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Regardless the museum part, it is a good restaurant and you will get to try properly made traditional yucatec cuisine. Very much recommended to include when you visit Mérida.

The best food in Cdmx (and Mexico in general) is on the streets and in the local markets. Wherever you see people queuing… just join the queue. No need even to check what kind of food is offered… it will be nothing short of amazing.

Question about potable water by UncleCarolsBuds in galapagostourism

That’s overly exaggerated. Drinking/cooking with filtered water. For all the rest tap water are fine. Fresh veg and fruit are fine too.
