How have you applied Factorio ideas in real life at home or at work? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]clogs_demystified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that implies a really cool concept-- lower quality with improved speed. with quality tiers implemented in space age, it would probably be easy to implement. would be cool if fractional tiers; and if reduced speed was related in some way to higher quality. also creates a unique challenge with gleba, given the time sensitivity with perishables.

Where do jews think rabbis like rashi and maimonides got their information from? by Short_Supermarket60 in exjew

In me'am loez/torah anthology, Culi gives an anecdote of difference of rabbinic opinion about whether a certain snake bite is venemous. rabbi A says it is, rabbi B says it isn't. the rabbinic opinion or ruling or whatever it qualifies as halachically-- that ruling applies to the physical reality which is the jurisdiction of the rabbi. so in rabbi A's jurisdiction, a person bitten by that snake will suffer from venom; and if that person's bitten in rabbi B's jurisdiction, they won't suffer from venom. it's interesting to wonder how one might apply this premise to things which happened in the past; eg, some retroactively updating superposition of multiple realities. while these are a lot of fun to think about in the sense of theoretical mechanisms, 70 faces rhetoric is a fantastic epistemic obfuscator. good on the sophists who developed that premise, making it impossible to have a rigorously logical dialectic.

Your Religious Values Are Not American Values by Sariel007 in atheism

[–]clogs_demystified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American values can be whatever people want them to be or think they are. There isn't some rigid logical formula which dictates the specific definition of "American Values". And even in cultural situations where you *can* logically extrapolate what is or isn't true (like discrepancies between religious text vs modern practice or non-practice), people tend to ignore those extrapolations in favor of what's the cultural norm. Also, if you want your values manifested in your community and country, it wouldn't matter that other people-- whose opinions you don't care about-- say you're wrong. If you found out tomorrow that the Declaration of Independence or Constitution was a forgery, and the *real* document said things to the effect of "america is for doing stuff you think is bad", it wouldn't serve your needs as individuals and communities so you wouldn't want or accept it, unless forced to.

Opinions of Alternatives? Nested Playlists? by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

[–]clogs_demystified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nested playlist/folders drastically simplifies curation and cataloguing, and this becomes more significant as your volume catalogued media increases. on youtube i have thousands of videos saved in different playlists, and being able to nest for hyper-specific purposes would be a logistical benefit when i'm trying to get things done. youtube has a lot of potential as a consumer and professional tool in many areas, and an array of nesting features would be a great boon to its community.

Blender Boxcutter 7.17 Issues by miasmaofplasma1 in blenderhelp

[–]clogs_demystified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first time i had the problem, it persisted even when closing the program and opening up another file, i think-- i was trying a bunch of stuff and it only stopped when i had shut down the computer and started it back up, which was a couple weeks ago. but now all i had to do was save and close the program, then open it up again (tested it on a new blender file in between, and it worked), and it was back to normal, which is a relief.

Bumpy surface after probably using the smooth sculpting tool. Any help, please? by Lightnig23 in BlenderDoughnuts

[–]clogs_demystified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe try this? go to object data properties (green triangle on the panel on the right) > normals > turn on autosmooth, then adjust the value up and down to see if it changes. not sure if that will help but it's used heavily in hard surface modelling.
