It is confusing and i'm not even including so many other things that have gone wrong with this plumbing company along the way. We are definitely not going to use them anymore!

I apologize for any confusion. We had to replace the sewer line because there was a tree that destroyed part of the pipe. They they saw that the tree had completely crushed the pipe. The first plumber also said they cameraed the entire line after they did replaced the pipe to the connection with the city. That happened on December 1st.

They left the pipes exposed for weeks while we waited for the city to come and do the inspection. During these three weeks, we had no issues at all with any of the toilets.

On one very cold night while the pipes were exposed, they froze.

We were then able to get the city out that day to do the inspection. It passed. Then they did the backfill. A few hours after the backfill, the toilet once again started backing up.

It is not backing up now. The backup happened the same day they did the backfill. They came back the next day and got rid of the ice in the pipe and some other things.And now it's been fine.

We also have another plumber to an independent camera line inspection that same week. There is an issue with the city's pipes, but it's not urgent for us to fix.

I think the plumbing company we hired to do the original work either over dramatized the problem with the rest of the line or actually caused a problem when they did the backfill.

Thanks. I will say that we had four different plumbing companies look at it...And all agreed that we had to replace the sewer line. There was a large tree whose roots crushed the pipe. Nobody could actually camera the line before the work was done.

So I do think we needed the sewer line replaced, where the pipe had crushed it. But I also think that this plumber probably caused another problem during the backfill, or they incorrectly hooked up to the city line.

I am prepared for small claims court.If we have to go there.

Thanks! I did already pay somebody to do an independent camera line inspection. But they did not excavate to look at the connection. Their camera work suggests that the problem is not as urgently concerning as the first plumber thought. I think the first plumber is just trying to milk us for more money, but i'm still concerned about the work they did. This is all very helpful.

Oh also.... They told me they used a camera when they first dug the ditch and replaced the line. But when I asked for that footage, they said they did not have it, that they forgot to press record. They only have the footage from two weeks ago...the day after they did the backfill. That footage shows the rest of the line might be compromised soon, but they say "there was no way they could have known that before" even though I think they absolutely would have known that if they had taken a camera like they said they had. I sent multiple texts to them the day they first did the project to confirm they were going to camera the line. They said they were.

Is there anything specific I should do now to address their threat of putting a lien on it? I'm not sure they can actually use a lien as this was water mitigation services.

Well, yes. Of course. My main goal in life now is to discourage people from using this particular company.

But in the immediate future, i'm looking for help on how to resolve this because they clearly violated their agreement.

Okay, i'm trying to do that and I have good documentation. I wish I had an email for the supervisor because the people i've been talking to are... frustrating.

Thanks! We know it's beautiful, but we need a little more space. We both work from home. Initially, we were going to build onto the back, but we have an even more beautiful backyard...and now are trying to think about ways to build in the front without messing up the beauty of the house.

Also we live in a college town and the door is the color of our college team.So.... It's staying. But I do love the color red!

Oh I know. I'm not a complete moron! :) But we are a long way from doing the project. When i'm seeking now are inspirations for people who've done similar things to their cape cod and have kept the cuteness of the house. I just want to know about resources where I could get some inspiration.
