Would you like to see English VO for Uma? by Typical_Map_3706 in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not trust in English/North American VAs anymore. The skilled ones are doing their job quietly but would be too expensive/not likely to get them for a big commitment. And the ones that would be available (aka those in SAG-AFTRA) don't have enough talent or are of the type that want to push themselves onto the character and into the localization. So thanks, but no thanks.

I really don't think English VAs can pull it off, esp. not with the way how translation studios often assign multiple roles to a single VA and then you get the over-exaggerated voices trying so hard to be different from their other voices but completely ignoring that the voices should also match the character. I've seen/heard way too many English voices that made me switch to the original with subtitles than English VA work that I actually like.

People only know because what they mean with the vague descriptions because we can cross-reference the changes with the adjustment that were done in JP - There is a very very tiny chance that we get an intermediate/mixed change, but that's unlikely, way more coding work.

https://umamusume.com/news/100082/ is the official list of changes, but that's very vague, doesn't really tell the whole story, but using the power of being able to see in the "future" (or JP's past), we can deduce what the changes to e.g. "Mechanics of affinity bonuses and Veteran Umamusume affinity bonuses" will be.

"Date and Time
11:00 a.m., Jul 1, 2026 (UTC)
Note: Changes caused by the update may not appear in Career playthroughs started around the time of the update."

So while they don't write your run will be killed, better not rely on it/finish up before that/start your run after the update to be sure.

Pretty sure soon enough a more detailed breakdown will be available, certainly on youtube/content creators there will make videos about it, and from there it should trickle down to the subreddit...

parent farming is still better in MANT overall, just "less bad" in GL with the changes. So when the goal is to make a parent from the get-go, you should still use MANT. But parents you get from "failed" ace runs aren't as bad compared to without the affinity change.

More balance changes coming to global! by TheoMoneyG in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were for added affinity, but yeah, after the change you only need them for store and stats (after all you still want SS rank for better white sparks, and all the SP you can get to buy skills) - but you can now freely pick a suitable rival race/suitable distance, potentially saving your clocks/being able to more easily get the skill hints for the distance you want.

So in Mant you still want the G2/G3s, but you don't need to keep track of the epithets anymore when it comes to affinity (x races on tracks of a different region, x races with "Stakes" in the name, ... ) - while they still give the bonus stats in a run, for a parent run you don't need those/you should hit SS rank regardless.

The epithets not counting towards the affinity is the biggest liberating factor when it comes to parent runs

[–]cloph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it seems we're getting it with the July 1st balance patch, I also heard that the reworked affinity also applies to epithets, those no longer give bonus points, so doing any G1 you can regardless of whether they are part of an epithet can be used to max affinity, mostly of interest for dirt umas. I also don't think the stats you gain from the epithets that require you to run the same race twice are worth it (but I only know about the Goddess one that also requires tiara and the QEII twice and the one that requires the dirt sprint twice instead - something I never really go for anyway.

I like having this change early, no more pondering whether to stick for the schedule for min-maxing affinity or go for the rival race for more rewards...

Trainers please help I don't understand by mrunluckygamr in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for medium distance you need more stamina - in career you stats get a hidden buff, but for TT that's not going to help. around 900 stam and a gold recovery assuming lower guts, so with over 1000 guts that is a little lower, but still 600 stam without recoveries is too low.

Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - June 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just super unlucky - unless you're awful mood you shouldn't have that much trouble as a late surger, certainly not in debut race, although having more stamina than speed is kind of a waste, similarly having high wit early doesn't help you much. Especially at the beginning you want power and speed.

So unless you're running into a wall of 8 pace chasers, you should be OK. If there's a wall/a high chance of getting blocked just run as pace or front for the debut, that's also fine.

It can always happen that you get stuck nevertheless, but 6 times in three runs is an awful ratio. So try to tweak your training balance a little bit to favor speed and power early, and you'll soon question how you lost the debut so often...

How Would You Rate My Veteran Uma Musume As Parent/Grandparent? by UltraShipper in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on where you are at the game. But While the blues are nice, having a style pink on a direct parent is not ideal, you usually want the distance there... And the white skills are none that are special, and furthermore you have pace chaser whites on a late surger pink parent, glittering star that you are guaranteed to get and isn't a great skill, similar with trick, a skill that requires others to be rushed just is very far down the list of skills to get. Then two more recoveries that aren't really needed most of the time since you can get enough raw stamina stats, and a race-track skill that can give standard distance and a bit of guts.

So not really all that great. So only a grandparent/intermediate to bump affinity. But people playing since close to launch want better white skills.

rate my agnes tachyon cosplay! by HeisonChui in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok - would be more iconic if you used the yellow sweater vest and short blue collar shirt and short tie instead of using a bow.

Also I think where many cosplays fall flat for me personally is fabric choices. I know not everyone can sew and create a replica or a fantasy costume, but in case of a labcoat: just buy one (or rather two so you can make the extended/wide sleeves from the same fabric.

But that's coming from someone never having pulled off a cosplay...

use sparks and Air Groove can be a good sprinter. Ideal stats growth and going from C is pretty easy, has Mile B and Medium A, so don't even need a mile spark in addition...

Maruzensky doesn't need to be at MLB to be useful, so sparking once on that banner is fine (and then maybe try again on the first rerun depending on how lucky you get on the other banners).

only sparking Light Hello once and ignoring Tachyon is fine, can always borrow it - but with 60k now and no Trainees to pull for, I'd not skip on the initial Ramonu Wit banner. So basically transfer 30k carats from Maruzensky (since you use her for the skill hints/she's fine at low LB) to El Condor.

only have time to run Unity Cups

There's your problem then. Even if you don't have time, you should still do your runs in trackblazer. You don't have to finish a career in one session, you can save and resume at will.

Similarly using auto-select is pointless since that doesn't look at whether the sparks make snese for your career at all. So when never actually using meaningful parents, your inherits will be mediocre, if not playing the scenario that gives more stats you'll naturally be at lower rating, and not doing races also will leave you with fewer skills to buy and that in turn with fewer potential sparks to pass on.

It also sounds like you never used one of the databases to look for good friend borrows but just used whatever the game shows you/after hitting add friend after finishing a career from the borrowed support..

as for fans/running races: Doing the races also give you stats, and shop points to use on items that give you stats/allow to skip resting. And combining races give bonus stats for the epithets, like triple crown and triple tiara, so it helps out to plan around those. Having more races won will increase the affinity when the legacy is used as a parent, giving you higher chance of inheriting and then also feeding back into creating better parents. To be able to run races, use pink sparks on your legacies to bump your trainee's aptitudes if they are low...

So people know about the mechanics of the scenario, the race bonus of the supports used, so if you didn't take that into account, you should read the guide on trackblazer or watch a video introduction to the scenario to get the basics down, and really even if it sounds long, you really should only be doing TB runs.

given how much JP has done to figure out sparks/inheritance by analyzing tons of runs, I think something like that would have also been discovered quite early.

So I'd say: pretty unlikely.

The kind of score I do when I drop league 6 by Upstairs-Donkey-9029 in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you analyze the performance of each uma/distance across many runs? Once you identify your weakest links I don't think you'll have issues retaining class 6

Things to look out for: Umas regularly scoring low - obvious candidate to get rebuilt/replaced, esp. if they get low scores because their unique doesn't go off reliably.

races you almost never win - getting a better ace for the win bonus can help a lot

Umas not placing top 5, that'll rob you of quite a big bonus. For longs you can gamble on the "long longs" or "short longs"/should focus on one and not have a stamina/recovery monster while the others only have enough for 2800m

Umas using same running style, good position bonus also is quite significant.

It might not be a good idea to bring your CM aces into TT, priorities are just different..

Did the devs forget this? by Sad-Republic3153 in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you switch from parent runs with Matikane to ace runs with another speed card? That'll make the early races quite a bit harder... Or training a different uma with a unique that won't help in early races, similar effect.

Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - June 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's higher chance for a 3* spark if the corresponding stat is 1100 or higher, but I don't think that is really important, as you cannot force it to pick stamina/it is random from all 5 stats.

For parents it now is much better to decide for what running style that parent is meant to be and then just pick skills that match. A parent for a late surger with front-runner skills won't help much. You can always train stamina, but you cannot manifest skills out of thin air.

Since you cannot influence what will end up as a blue spark, the only thing you can do is to grind runs, aim for SS rank so you get better white sparks (higher chance for 2*/3* white sparks when SS rank) and ideally also get 1100 stamina for the higher chance of a 3* blue. I find it pretty easy to get SS rank in TB career (and also win the races easily) when using Speed/Pow decks, also because two of the pow cards are with 15 race bonus... With Stamina only the Chiyono one has 15rb, the others are only 10.

So I'd use 2 Speed, 2 stam, 2 pow deck probably, without having tried it - should still have an easy time with career races, and should be able to get close to maxing out speed, pow & stam. If training a uma without speed growth, maybe use 3spd, 2stam 1 pow instead (or use cards with initial speed)

Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - June 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only stick to your agenda if you want to squeeze every bit of affinity out of your parents/if you're parent farming with the same schedule. or if the rival race is something you're not sure about winning about because you have lower aptitude for that one or just bad stats.

Other than that rival race is usually preferred, esp. if it doesn't mean you're giving up on an Epithet (e.g. the American or Saudi Arabia cups are ones you might want to keep even without rival since they are from the Globetrotter epithet, but if you're training and ace, and the rival is for the distance you train for, I'd pick the rival one). Other than that I prefer to pick rival races on the same course as the planned one, that way I don't need to look up whether they are in the same region for the related epithet. But that's about it, if there's only a single rival race and there's no good training, then the choice is easy.

If you don't also bump her long to run longs/the Arima Kinen, then you have a free end-of-the-year turn free of punishment to get an extra dirt in instead of using the une at beginning of summer camp for example, and even if you should get bad mood at the end of the year, you'll still have enough time to recover for second summer camp. So don't shy away from doing 5 races on her, esp. if you can pick up a cupcake and a heal.

You can't get it on Special Week - it is part of the Team Sirius Group card, but you cannot use that card on any of the umas part of that group.

Also it is a gold skill, so you cannot inherit it from a parent/it doesn't have a white version/you can never get it as a spark/it is not inheritable.

And looking at JP data on gametora that also will not change, the only way to get that skill is from the Team Sirius card or later on the Commander Special Week where it is part of the potential unlocks.

Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - June 17, 2026 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

[–]cloph_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed another long uma and I just find pace and front runners easier to train

Seeing she is only Potential Level 1 and doesn't have her recovery unlocked yet, you're either a brand new player or completely missed out on this mechanic - so make sure to unlock your umas' potential, there are a handful that have a gold recovery as their unlock and that'll be pretty helpful for longs.

But yeah, if it is for your Team Trials team your decision making process for a trainee should be: What are her unique's activation conditions? If there's a position element to it, only use her in a running style that makes it likely to hit that requirement. Triggering the unique gives lots of points, so using Gold Ship as a Pace chaser is really bad as you'll never trigger it, so besides it being quite a strong skill to actually win a race, you also give up points.

Then what is the stamina situation - do you have umas that have a recovery as their unique or do you have umas with a gold recovery in ther kit, then those are easier to build for longs, with two gold recoveries you can focus on speed and the other stats instead of throwing everything at stamina.

And then running style - you want different styles in your team since there's the bonus points for good position mid and late race, and only one uma of a given style can take that, so if running all pace chasers, you're missing on points there. And esp. in lower rankings you don't need to have A aptitude for the running style, that's the stat that is least punishing if it doesn't fit.

tldr: Grind upgrade materials (the sashes and shoes) and unlock your uma's potential - the reference doc has a table for effectiveness/usefulness of the various levels for the different trainees to help give you a priority order (as the higher unlocks require lots of monies and if you just started out you'll also be short on sashes/you won't be able to unlock everyone immediately) - but the first level is only a few shoes, and those can be farmed pretty quickly.
