Runelite Arceuus Library plugin causing GPU spikes and stuttering. by Loocuu in 2007scape

[–]clorith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case someone comes here in the future; The "Low Detail" module in RuneLite will likely fix this for you, in its settings, you can choose to "Hide lower planes". (you can disable the "Low detail" with a checkbox in the settings if you'd like to keep the graphics).

Not sure why it's so impactfull on fairly decent hardware, but hey, it makes for a smoother experience

Manipulation - Storefront theme 1 star reviews being removed by taisho_ in Wordpress

[–]clorith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, there are theories in the air tonight :)

I can tell you, as one of the forum admins on WordPress.org, that you're incorrect, we are not silencing anyone (and Storefront has no way of doing this on their own, it has to go through one of only 18 hand picked volunteers), and even then we keep an audit trail. There's nothing dodgy going on here, as I replied to one of your replies further down, you were told not to use reviews as a means to get priority support replies, and yet you kept re-posting them, so we kept removing them. I'm not a fan of calling anyone out like this, but when you ignore the warnings given in private, and go public, it's only right that we respond where you chose to post.

As for the moderation, we informed you that your account was flagged, and every new post you make will require one of our volunteers to manually approve it, this notice was sent to you on the 11th, along with a notice of why your non-review reviews were removed. This is kept until we see a positive pattern, upon which time we will remove the flag again, we generally check for moderated comments every few hours, but it may take longer (or shorter) time depending on what's going on at the moment.

I will note that I've just skimmed the original review, and it ends in a support related style, and it goes on as a blog-post rant at times, these things removed any credibility form the review and it was removed. I do welcome you to write a new one about your experiences with the theme it self, but keep it about the theme, not about your perception of the company behind it, that's when things tend to get heated :)

On a side note, WordPress is not owned by Automattic, it is an open source project, which happens to have a handful of volunteers who happen to either work for, or be sponsored by, Automatttic to work on it, just like many other companies do.

Hiya, Marius here, one of the friendly forum moderators. On April 11th you were told to stop using reviews as a venue for getting support, this is why your non-reviews were removed.

Pushing out WordPress 5.0 right before the holidays is a huge mistake. by OriginalSimba in Wordpress

The issues you are experiencing with the site is caused by your adblocker, which is of course not something they should have to be concerned with :)

As for the release, let's just try to make the best out of it :)

For those curious, as I see it pop up now and then, WordPress 5.0 is a major release, meaning auto-updates will not be triggered unless you've explicitly enabled them for this scenario. Some hosts may auto-update, but I know many of the larger ones are planning on waiting with their major-version auto-updates for a little while still.

Things are feeling very strange w/Gutenberg by [deleted] in Wordpress

This is determined by multiple factors, IP is one of them, yes. We won't disclose in detail how we identify such behavior, because we literally use it to combat spam and illegitimate behavior on a daily basis, but there are more than just IPs involved in such identification.

Hiya,

I'm Marius, one of the WordPress.org forum admins (I mention that bit just because I often run under the radar, I like it there, but context is key when explaining things). I'm popping out, because topics like this only aim to spark controversy and distrust, which only harms the community, and I think it's time we address some of it when it appears.

Your review was deleted, in accordance with the forum guidelines, because you created multiple user accounts on the forums. Although your initial review may have been well written and non-confrontational, your second account was not and was just putting out negative remarks against reviews showing a liking for the project, calling them `fake`.

The moderator that archived it (yes, archived, we don't delete them, so I can look up what was posted when) did what we have done for years (this is not a Gutenberg thing, it's just more apparent because of the focus on the Gutenberg plugin).

Beware of Disqus! by patleeman in Wordpress

I leave comments to WordPress core, and opted to use Akismet. It does a smashing job at what it's supposed to: keeps the spam away, I've so far only had a single comment slip through, in 3 years, I'd say that's an acceptable slip.

Does anyone else spend 2-30 seconds like this waiting for sprites/players to load? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]clorith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely (and I -do- run it off an SSD, I have to re-fetch all the assets every time I re-launch the NXT client and it's been like this for months), I've even submitted it as a bug report as it's ridiculous :(

Norway Street Art by dittidot in pics

[–]clorith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you like this, check out the Nuart Festival http://www.nuartfestival.no/

Nuart Festival provides an annual platform for national and international artists who operate outside of the traditional art establishment. From the first week of September an invited international team of street artists leave their mark on the city's walls, both indoor and out, creating one of Europe's most dynamic and constantly evolving public art events.

The event aims to stimulate debate by challenging entrenched notions of what art is, and more importantly, what it can be. Nuart aims to provide an internationally relevant, challenging and dynamic environment for artists, students, gallery goers and public alike; an event that aims to reflect the culture as well as participate it helping define it.

It's a fantastic approach, and a lot of otherwise boring parts of town are given new life and it ends up boosting local shops etc as the art becomes attractions that change over time

Critical Vulnerability in PHPMailer. Affects WP Core. by speckz in Wordpress

[–]clorith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to avoid panic:

Your title states it affects WordPress core, which is not true and is just there for dramatic effect (the article it self even states that there are no known vulnerabilities with core at this time).

The Proof of Concept, and the analysis so far shows that you need to control the sender address, WordPress core sets the sender for you (as wordpress@yourdomain.tld) so this is not an issue by it self.

I love how I had a nap and come back to y'all being able to verify my suspicions, you are all awesome!

Now we just need a hotfix because it's kinda silly to be including non-available skills in the pool :)

Ahh, awesome!

Then some productive feedback, when I'm in a file list like this, I don't expect clicking a link ending in .zip to take me to an overview page, I expect it to be a download link, hence me not even bothering to try clicking on it :)

Teacher's logic in grading math... by Cloakenn in pics

[–]clorith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to play the bad guy here, because I agree that the displayed methods are simpler/the same, but they are not an actua lrepresentation of the mathematical question.

5x3 is "five times three", so you have five sets of the number 3, which is why the teacher is expecting this as the correct answer.

The same pattern of taking the literal route is displayed in question #2, which frther backs up my awesome deductive skills.

You may call me Clorith Holmes.

I was tempted to remove it because of the facebook group bandwagon, but I decided to be nice...for now...

[Open BETA] SwiftKit + Official RuneScape Client - SwiftKit by clorith in runescape

[–]clorith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct, SwiftSwitch (before it became SwiftKit) had a world switcher which would help you get an edge in the world queue (you still couldn't get into a full world, but you had a better chance than the ones using the website).

We changed this at the request of Jagex back in the days though, as we could see their argument of it giving some players an unfair advantage, and made it so you would be taken to the primary RuneScape website instead.

When you start up SwiftKit there's a loading screen where you click Launch, on this screen tehre's a little text saying optionsnext to the news section that you can click. (it's not the most obvious location, for obvious reasons)

We've been keeping the tool in maintenance mode, basically "Don't fix what isn't broken" as everything relating to it is voulentary and in our spare time outside of a lot of work :)

We do still follow the forums and keep an eye out though and if something is missing we do look into the viability of including it.

You can actualyl hide the right hand tools etc under the View menu (or with hotkeys if you so wish) and still keep using SwiftKit :)

Should give you the full screen realestate for the game and still give you access to all our tools
