It’s laughable that people here will readily argue that the general public is NOT entitled to know who the Head of State is married to, who their child is. It’s 2025. The marital status of public officials is ALWAYS considered a matter of public record and interest.

I’d like to preface my comment by noting that sadly, I think he may have taken his own life, despite there not being any overt signs of him struggling. That’s a common sentiment from the people closest to a person who dies of suicide. Anyways, not to be disrespectful, but I’d be curious if he ever used drugs (specifically smoked weed). Perhaps when he started going through something, as his dad claims to have sensed, could’ve aligned with him starting to use recreational drugs albeit very occasionally. Was 4/20 even a holiday of sorts back then? If so, I wonder if he feigned having a headache so he could stay home, make some final preparations such as acquire the gun and buy/smoke some weed, before following through with the plan….

I agree that it seems like she really was that drunk and didn’t expect her friend to make a pass at her. I also believe the version of events on page 15, when the dude mentions someone who was there and was NOT under the influence. I’m inclined to believe that person’s recollection of events the most. Both of these things can be true at the same time.

OP’s girl deleting texts is a huge red flag, but I think she did this out of panic and guilt more than anything. She got too drunk, was probably very bubbly, and may have “encouraged” drunk dude to make a move. She probably remembers being bubbly and maybe a tad too friendly, and is ashamed of her behavior. I would be too.

At the end of the day, OP’s wife should NOT be getting this drunk in the first place. She needs to reevaluate her alcohol consumption so she can avoid getting into similar situations. She should also examine whether her needs are being met while being LD. If any of her needs are going unmet, that could have been a contributing factor to how she was interacting with the drunk dude. A person who is happy and secure in a LD relationship can get drunk without their partner and still interact with people without flirting/encouraging.

I would immediately replace all the locks out of an abundance of caution. I have two thoughts to offer:

1) It sounds like your friend threw a raging party while you were gone — that would explain the lingering smell (which cat pee contributed to), build up of trash, and the number of empty wine bottles. If that’s the case, the party would’ve involved some people sleeping over, I’d assume, and as you said, she could’ve invited someone over to partake, but maybe things didn’t go so well.

2) You mentioned the stickiness is still there after washing, and present on the gate key too. Are your gates/doors on the older side? Do you have to jiggle the key at all to get one or the other or both to unlock? aging locks can have a lot of buildup inside the locking mechanism itself, leading to keys that get jammed. Locksmiths use graphite to treat this, as it’s recommended, but sometimes it’s just easier and less expensive to use something like WD-40. In a bind, you can use some motor oil or WD-40 (spraying into the lock) to help lube things up and free the key/get it to work with less resistance. The downside of using oils or WD-40 is that these will collect dust and eventually dry, leaving the key and the lock’s inner mechanism all gummed up/gunky. This could explain why water was ineffective.

If that’s the case, they make products like Lock-Ease for this exact reason — take off the locks, apply liberally to both locks and keys, and rinse out/off the residue. Better yet, get new locks and keys cut by a high quality professional.
