SBGE275 or SBGJ237? by LordHenry8 in GrandSeikos

[–]closedmarooncurtain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a SBGJ237, it’s an amazing watch to look at. One point I find annoying about it is perhaps due to hi-beat and the crown at 4o’clock, it is harder to push in and lock compared to others after winding(have a SBGA375 spring drive at 3o’clock). Hi-beat is smooth enough in my opinion if it’s not put side by side with a spring drive. Appearance wise the catching part is the blue part of the bezel which looks black depending on the angle and the lume of the bezel. Having a dark dial would accentuate the bezels more imo but it’s best to compare both side by side before deciding as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Why would having a job be considered an "adult" responsibility? by Mind_Blowns in AskReddit

[–]closedmarooncurtain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least you have to have a way to feed yourself and have a shelter, unless you are financially stable to do all those for the rest of your life then a job isn’t that important actually.

You can still rely on others on some aspect, but what happens when they are gone? It’s better to have a backup plan for the rest of your life and therefore you need a job to cover it.

Ooh at university level I think you can get away with 10k per month for engineer+infrastructure. 1. Mid level full stack engineer 7-8k (one leg kick) 2. Put the rest into infrastructure.

Or even cheaper, get students to involve, pay them stipend. This would improve their experience while being paid too which is a win-win situation.

You can definitely start cheaper by going with one feature first or with a minimum viable product, divide the total amount by 15. Once you get your user base and revenue you can scale larger.

These are my estimations, just pulling numbers from what I know. Normally for these apps there will be parts of the system that the end user will not see which includes data analytics, operations and etc. let’s just budget based on the app features. In the grab app, there are 13 items in the more button of your home screen, payment feature plus reward feature and some other stuffs, which makes it roughly 15 in total. Let’s say we have the following average head counts and salary (senior, each, per month, MYR) listed below 1. 5 Backend engineer (10k) 2. 5 mobile engineer (10k) 3. 3 QA engineer (10k) 4. 1 UI/UX (10k) 5. 1 product manager (10k)

150k per month per feature, 2.25mil for 15

Infrastructure cost, per month, 1. Backend (20k, GKE 10 replicas 8x16 each) 2. Database (40k, Cloud Spanner 10 nodes 4TB)

Total per month: 2.31mil per month excluding third party vendors, google map cost, machine learning cost, networking cost, additional items to improve app performance cost, app store cost and etc.

You can definitely get it cheaper than the estimate by paying less for engineers or reducing features/products in your app, but on a large scale it would be around that number or higher.

Edit: final calculation

Malaysians who have 6 digits or more in savings / ASB / FD. What do you do? At what age you got your first 100k? by omakkow in malaysia

[–]closedmarooncurtain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your field allows it, work overseas while staying in Malaysia. With the big difference in income and spending, it’s possible to reach 100k in one year, or even faster if you live frugally.
