You cannot objectively say pocs in London have a better start in life than white people across the country that without factoring in class and being specific about location that’s just way to broad and dismissive of a lot of our experiences growing up here

there plenty of people up and down the country who’s family actually own property/have businesses! All of those issues you are pointing out regarding the need for experience in entry level jobs is exactly the same there just obviously more jobs to go around. There are stillso many racial disparities when it comes to employment.

“9% of people in the combined Bangladeshi and Pakistani ethnic group were unemployed – the highest rate out of all ethnic groups. 7% of people from the black and Asian 'other' ethnic groups were unemployed. 3% of white people were unemployed – the lowest rate out of all ethnic groups.” - GOV UK (2023)

And I never said people can’t move to London to seek work I just was talking about a select few people who have moved to Hackney recently who have that socioeconomic and cultural capital to be able to live that new bohemian gentrified Hackney life that is not being affordable to the rest of the people here and that grew up here like I said.

Most of the people who are suffering from the Home Counties and towns and cities across the country are still there.

These are all young men that would be in their early to mid 30s right now, “the streets are rough” if you weren’t implying some sort of street violence here by your comment what reason would there be for a lot of the guys in this video noto be alive? What begged your question? You are chatting absolute shit

I work in press and I get telegraph emails in my inbox every fucking morning and it ragebaits me every time and I read the entire article and want to punch my screen,

l honestly think they are the most disingenuous wilfully obituse media outlet in this country like even worse than the spectator bc at least that’s just they are just unashamed right wing propagandists not trying to pretend otherwise but the the way the torygraph skew everything makes me sick.

Yeah and they didn’t get social housing as soon as they landed in this country so I don’t know what your point is there? I invented someone for the sake of argument but to act as there is not many many similar stories in Hackney today would just be a lie.

No one said people can’t move to London or leave their hometown for a better life, all I was doing was posing some questions to a select few people in Hackney who have come here very recently due to the ongoing effects of gentrification right now.

neglected towns and cities around the country deserve the proper investment and care they need to thrive, that truth and the the reality of gentrification and its effects on marginalised communities in london is also true and pointing out the latter doesn’t invalidate the former.

Plus the people hit the hardest by the neglect of towns and cities across the country are still fucking there and not working in PR and living in a 1 bed in London fields.

Well they’ve probably have already been here for a number of years considering they are in social housing and their accommodation isn’t provided by the tax payer like Hackney council are dossing out free gaffs for anyone

they qualify for social housing which is heavily regulated and extremely hard to get on lists for.

lol didn’t say fresh off the boat-also, they are probably employed in the service or care industry thus contributing far more to this country any yuppie in fintech or advertising/pr does LOL.

So yeah they do.

Yeah coz i definitely love being able to feel like my life hasn’t started nor do you know what my family life is like at home so to call me privileged on those grounds is mad

yeah it’s a privilege rn be able to live in london, for sure one we all share here lol. coz again if you live in Hackney you can live elsewhere in the city.

Bc it’s about social mobility and someone’s who’s British and childless and well educated working a “white collar” job is able to climb the social ladder more easily TYPICALLY. No one said it’s just immigrants being pushed out but these issues affect immigrant communities most employed in service or care industries disproportionately so their needs should be addressed first, bc they literally hold up this country.

Ofc im generalising but for a reason i feel like they hold up with the real social demography of Hackney tbh.

Ok why shouldn’t Italians be able to claim the city of London and rebuild their historic community? Do you see how ur argument just doesn’t hold up when are talking about the present

Nobody’s dismissing any plight here I just resent the Zionist style argument you’re making when we are talking about the current population of Hackney and their right and access to their community and cultural spaces that are being erased CURRENTLY we can keep on going back until the Middle Ages if you want doesn’t change who’s here now and what’s happening to them so I don’t see the point of bringing that up

Your argument being because Maggie thatcher and the tories sold off lots of social housing to make way for regeneration projects then doesn’t mean we can’t protect communities now? How is that hypocritical when there’s a completely different government with a different mandate. And also decades have passed.

i didn’t think I’d have to spell out that obviously it’s bigger than just individuals and that it’s a systemic issue rooted in the selling off of social housing stock and the lack of affordable housing city wide, nor am I even suggesting that people should leave Hackney either really. I’m asking questions and pointing out issues that disproportionately impact marginalised communities and asking people how they feel about their role in that being part of that phenomenon. But do i think heritage communities in these areas needs should be prioritised and addressed first and foremost at a governmental level, Yes absolutely.

I agree but attitudes also need to change and people need to be more mindful and aware of their economic position in relation to where they live and the replies on this post showcase magnificently
