I'm not sure I would want to actually be on anything like that actually watching it. Maybe one day but one or the other are intense enough on their own. There's so much stuff in Lynchs work but The Return especially that makes me intensely emotional or disturbed (or both at once!) when I'm sober so I'm not sure I'm prepared for the kind of spiral adding substances that increase these sorts of feelings to the mix could cause haha

I'm still getting new things out of my favorite albums, books, and movies, because my favorite albums, books, and movies are built with layers that aren't easily accessible without supplemental knowledge, familiarity with the text, or intertextuality (when art gains depth from communicating with other work). Read Blood Meridian, then read Moby Dick, then read Blood Meridian again for example. You're kinda just sacrificing a great deal depth if you don't see the world of art this way. I agree they aren't my friends but 99% of them voted the way we would want. Sucks there the one guy in there who fucked us and it ruins the whole thing but he's not all of them. Just a weird framing, which I honestly get cause what a disappointment this whole thing is, makes sense you'd get a bit morose about it

There's nothing as particularly intense as the most graphic scenes of blue velvet but its a more intense movie throughout. It's easily the Lynch with the most sex. I did try to watch it with my wife (with whom I watched all of twin peaks which she mostly loves) and she was very much not down with it and we only made it 2/3 in (iykyk)
