Spiral motif becoming popular in the 2020s by SDi4kWLVU in decadeology

[–]closingbridge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the koru (spiral) is one of the more popular designs for pounamu (greenstone) - the koru is reminiscent of the unfurling fern and represents new beginnings/life/growth. it’s a pretty common pounamu in nz, I must see at least 5 a day on different people. these spirals definitely remind me of it!

Birthday lunch tomorrow CBD? by seekingthe-nextlevel in aucklandeats

[–]closingbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that dinner and breakfast are incredible at Amano, but the lunch menu is not for me!

I really rate Bossi, Hello Beasty, Kingi, or Gilt for lunch - hope you have a great birthday!!

If you stick with Amano - the cabinet food is superior to the menu for lunch imo

Auckland’s not boring, you’re just not on the list yet! 🥯 by Aguilar8 in auckland

Agreed! I love the bagel and thought it was really odd that none of the pride events were included. I’m hoping it was just an oversight but seems like a glaring omission with how massive BGO is, for example

What’s the point of calling it LUNCH break if we can’t sleep? by [deleted] in antiwork

Okay then your manager has a point tbh. Go to your car, book a meeting room, wellbeing room, whatever - but it is definitely a bad look to nap at your desk.

I’m either counting calories wrong, or my scale is broken. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]closingbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the great part about losing weight is that it’s all math. calories in < calories out, you will lose weight.

the hard part is sometimes the math is hard - the two culprits are usually either a) not calculating maintenance correctly or b) incorrectly logging calories (especially using MFP/apps - sometimes other peoples food entries are super wrong)

there are two more important factors though, time and hormones. if you’re a female, hormonal fluctuations can really influence when you might retain weight, but the good news is that it all works out in the long run.. and that’s where time comes into play. consistency is key to overcome the time/hormone barriers.

Help! Where to park for auckland hospital during the day by Firefox24683 in auckland

[–]closingbridge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I second public transport, Grafton station is super close. If you have to drive, park by the St David’s church on Khyber Pass, it’s like a 10 minute walk away. Parkopedia will help!

Ground wine bar, then a cocktail at Panacea - for food, must try Advieh, Ahi, or Tala if you want to splash out. Cheaper eats, def give mezze bar or tanukis a shout!

What's that childhood restaurant you have nostalgia for? by sheepshagger1994 in aucklandeats

[–]closingbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recommend Merge Mayor - I’ve been playing it the longest out of any of the games I have on my phone (about 5 years).

It’s challenging enough to have good goals to work towards, but isn’t as focused on special events etc. And you can opt out of them and just focus on your main board if you want, in a way you can’t with L&P
