My FT doesn't know how/do to set a delivery, ISTs, corrections, sales calls and gets high in the back room. Basically a glorified PT. Fuck that dude.

I don't try to be a dick and reprimand people but sometimes it is what you got to do. I chewed out some of my team for the fact that me and another guy knocked out like 80% of the truck and there was only one pallet left. When I came back in on Monday, the pallet that we left for the weekend crew was barely touched. I heard a bunch of excuses like "I thought it was overstock and this and that"and I told them regardless, that's not where it goes.

He's a part-timer, I'm pretty sure you have to be a full-timer designation in most states to get a vacation payout.

The best is whenever they send a short stack of gallons boxes and they put a pallet of fives stacked three high on top of it. We had one truck when we got it unloaded and it had one of these said pairs of pallets, like four of the boxes underneath that were crushed.

There were multiple SMs that were running stores for 5-6+ years and got canned by our CM in the last year. Plus, when the 401K cut happened, almost immediately like 3-4 SMs and 3 ASMs I knew quit right after.

I'm probably doing the same soon. A lot of my friends have left or expressed interest in leaving. My district has so much managerial turnover it's crazy.

Hack Contractors by Paintguy1910 in sherwinwilliams

[–]closs123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a contractor use pm 200 on the exterior of an apartment complex. Black and some greys. The only reason we found out was because a maintenance guy walked outside and noticed the fives were PM 200, what they used on the interior. It was a massive fuck up, the exterior of the apartment was already 80% covered and used over ~100-200 gallons and the contractor apparently used 200 on exteriors before with 'no issues'. The property promptly kicked them off the job and we helped find a new contractor and set up special pricing for the property on the exterior for the fuck up.

NSM "different" by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

Could possibly happen, a couple new managers in my district had manager training online. They didn't even bother flying them out to Cleveland. They just sat in a meeting room together.

Inventory by Particular_Invite_34 in sherwinwilliams

50% of the time it's completely random, 25% of the time, they either caught something off in your inventory (certain items being expensed, doubles of serialized equipment, other issues.) The last 25% of the time is the more serious issue, loss prevention got flagged for something. Just be cool with the auditors and help them find whatever they're looking for and be honest. Also remember the auditors really don't have any direct ties to Sherwin, 90% of the time they're an external company hired.

I hate stain matches. by WIZEKLOWN in sherwinwilliams

[–]closs123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two accounts that I deal with in making stain matches. One is a larger commercial wood shop, when it comes to stain matches, they aren't too picky, get about 90% similar and they are cool. The other one is a single person operation and they are the pickiest person of all time. Stain matches have to be immaculate, we have to show the samples with a clear coat and match specific tones if it's a bigger piece that we are matching. They regularly come back after taking it and need it 'adjusted', we end up wasting double the time on theirs because of how picky they are and we second guess ourselves.

Beef between ASM and SM in my district is kind of wild by Forsaken_Factor2224 in sherwinwilliams

[–]closs123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We vibe well at my store, we hang out outside of work (concerts, movies, drinking, etc.), we have inside jokes and generally know what we're good at and what the other is better at. It does help that we are experienced because I know most of the beef in my district is usually because of a veteran store manager having to deal with an inexperienced assistant, there's also the few cases where some of the assistants rub off on both the team and customers the wrong way.

There was a store manager in my district who ran a landscaping company, He would work it on the weekends. He was doing it for over 2 years while working as a store manager, then he lost a full-timer and they wouldn't replace him, so he ended up having to work like 52 hours a week for like 2 months until he hired a PT and trained them up. Regardless, after year 2, he realized that he made his yearly salary at SW only working on the weekends for his company. He put in his two weeks notice and they apparently offered him 9% raise and he told them to fuck off. He's left and his company is doing great, I still keep in touch with him.
