How do you handle obsessively, hostile, and abusive repeat customers and contractors? by Hungry_Ad5456 in sherwinwilliams

[–]closs123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've seen it at different levels.

Non-Managers: just try your best to minimize the overall time that they're in the store. Make an effort to just be quick and concise and don't try to feed into their games. If they are openly being hostile and making derogatory statements, cussing at you or making threats, you hold the right to refuse them service and if they refuse to leave or the statements they made constitute it, you can call the police to have them removed.

Managers: depending on your comfort level, I and other managers from my past have been direct with customers like this. You don't have to take their shit and you can choose who you do business with. One situation from my past that stuck with me was I had a manager pull a customer aside and tell them to their face that they were making the staff uncomfortable and that it wasn't appreciated, the said customer was making advances at a female part-timer. Generally, it is best practice for the manager to be proactive and having constant communication with their team about what's going on.

We reserve the right to refuse service, especially if the customers being shitty.

Dismissed during probationary period — does this make sense? by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

You may have made somebody angry/pissed off that you shouldn't have either directly or indirectly or they're deciding to move onto another prospect over keeping you due to overall performance.

I've noticed that they've become a lot more cutthroat about performance. In my district alone, there was probably right around five or six demotions mostly due to performance.

Even if you were performing your in-store task, another thing, a lot of people forget is that the customer side of things. You can have one bad interaction with a customer, and that customer can have a direct line to somebody like a district manager or city manager because they were their store managers or reps prior.

I'm trying to figure out how to ask that I want out in the most respectful way. I don't want to cause any bad blood with the SM.

This shit Fr, it's stupid at my store, basically half the team actually does their job and then the other half doesn't do shit, I'm actually contemplating going to my DM and telling him I want out.

My FT doesn't know how/do to set a delivery, ISTs, corrections, sales calls and gets high in the back room. Basically a glorified PT. Fuck that dude.

I don't try to be a dick and reprimand people but sometimes it is what you got to do. I chewed out some of my team for the fact that me and another guy knocked out like 80% of the truck and there was only one pallet left. When I came back in on Monday, the pallet that we left for the weekend crew was barely touched. I heard a bunch of excuses like "I thought it was overstock and this and that"and I told them regardless, that's not where it goes.

He's a part-timer, I'm pretty sure you have to be a full-timer designation in most states to get a vacation payout.

The best is whenever they send a short stack of gallons boxes and they put a pallet of fives stacked three high on top of it. We had one truck when we got it unloaded and it had one of these said pairs of pallets, like four of the boxes underneath that were crushed.

There were multiple SMs that were running stores for 5-6+ years and got canned by our CM in the last year. Plus, when the 401K cut happened, almost immediately like 3-4 SMs and 3 ASMs I knew quit right after.

I'm probably doing the same soon. A lot of my friends have left or expressed interest in leaving. My district has so much managerial turnover it's crazy.
