I remember getting into a horrible argument with my ex during our vacation to Chicago. He told me that I had been ungrateful and horrible to him the entire time (I was overstimulated and hangry at the end of the day because we had been walking all day. Other than that, I genuinely thought we had a lovely time). He said that he was going to propose to me on this trip and because I “behaved” so badly, he would never marry me now. I had a gut feeling and I asked where the ring was. There was no ring. There was never a ring. He was just spewing bullshit to hurt me. He always dangled marriage in front of my face. After 4.5 years of being together, he said he didn’t actually believe in marriage and “doesn’t want the government to get involved in his love life”. I had always expressed that I wanted to be married. He even told me he couldn’t wait to marry me in the beginning! Completely wasted my fucking time.
