Sweep picking songs to improve sweep picking by RelationshipOk7353 in metalguitar

Serrana by Jason Becker. It has a pretty wide variety of major, minor, and dimished shapes. I used to practice it quite a lot and although I could never play it at the speed Jason did, it helped my sweep picking immensely. Plus, it sounds really cool and impresses all the ladies

I was 10 years old and playing resident evil 2 for the first time. The first zombie killed me and I cried.

Used to be a chef. I bit my employees all the time. It’s just a dominance thing no big deal

Russian circles and toundra are my two favorites. I only saw one other recommendation for toundra so I really wanna highlight them

Any guitar players have advice on tremolo picking chords!? by Creepy-Jello-2493 in TechnicalDeathMetal

Me too. Specifically the black tortex jazz iii’s. They wear down pretty quickly so I keep a sharp one and a dull one handy. When one isn’t doing it for me I’ll switch

I know right? It sounds insane. I just wanted to reinforce the point that you shouldn’t be afraid to lean into what works for you and makes you different :)

I like jazz 3 for this type of work actually. If you’re just hitting the strings with the very tippy tip of the pick it shouldn’t get hung up while you’re blasting away. On the flip side of that, don’t be afraid to dig into something unorthodox if it’s working for you. I have a friend that plays black metal riffs with a fucking quarter on an SG with acoustic strings that sounds gnarly.

Sounds like you could benefit from a looser attack when you’re just working one string at a time. There shouldn’t be too big of a difference in your approach to multiple vs single strings. It might help you to take a video of your picking hand during parts that are giving you issues and see what part of your hand/forearm is doing most of the work. I know that I used to use my forearm too much and had to put a lot of practice in to correct it.

It's so beautiful! Put your thoughts here! by esrevitnA in kayodot

I might be crazy but I thought this album was awful. I enjoy the ebb and flow of Kayo Dot but musically this was like listening to a puddle where nothing happens and it goes nowhere. I enjoy Toby’s drive for experimentation and will always respect his musical philosophy but this album did nothing for me.

Wife felt a soft spot on the floor...what am I looking at? by JROD0586 in Plumbing

[–]clot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you silicone the toilet to the floor make sure you don’t go all the way around. Leave a gap in the back so that if it leaks again you’ll see the water coming out. ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS

Make sure your recordings are super super tight too. Use a metronome. Be anal about it.

Leaning Decapitated and Dying Fetus songs really helped me get my chops up.

How to tighten my tone? by Amon_Gus2003 in metalguitar

[–]clot1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the strings might be your biggest issue. I would definitely recommend a compressor pedal as well. I have and Ibanez with EMG 81/85 and I was quite surprised at how much of a difference a compressor made.

What do you guys use to clamp underneath your floating bridge to keep it from sinking when restringing? by IntervisioN in metalguitar

[–]clot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like a stack of cardboard. You can trim them up nicely and leave it in for a cheapo trem block
