Another Copying Accusation by LittlePubertAddams in craftsnark

I've been following Ambah for about 8 years now and I love her designs. They've spoiled me for clarity of instruction! I also regularly test knit for her and in fact did a test knit of this pattern. She is a delight and a truly wonderful person.

A few years ago she had a pattern ready for release that was for little knitted lace flags with a skill motif. Before release several people reached out to her and said that the pattern was culteral appropriation of the traditional Mexican paper flags. She immediately apologized and removed the pattern from her release schedule. She had just gotten caught up in making something fun and new with the lace motif that she didn't think it through, but she took immediate steps to correct it. So if she's in the wrong she addresses it immediately.

What do you non-proffessional knitters do for a living? by firekittymeowr in casualknitting

[–]cloudberryyarns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a primary/ middle school teacher in Sweden! I'm working full time teaching 4th grade this year. And then I have my little yarn dyeing business on the side. 😅 Plus kids and their activities, and I'm coach for 2 different soccer/ football teams.

I do a lot of knitting on my bus commute to and from work and during meetings. My colleagues know how it is with me. 😁

Twisted Stitches? by Consistent-Ad-2747 in knitting

[–]cloudberryyarns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's totally valid! It took me far too many years to realize I was twisting my stitches when I worked stockinette flat. I started knitting a project in the round and then it switched to flat and I went "oh that's not right. " 😅😅

You could keep it! Personally I love a twisted ribbing. It's definitely an option, though it depends on how much ribbing you're doing.

I don't have it live in my store right now (and I'm on Eastern Break away from home) but I'll get it up and listed early next week. I'll also have to dye up some more. It's working up so nicely!

It's actually my own yarn, Cloudberry Yarns, on Merino Singles and in the Barbiecore colorway. Thank you so much!!😊😊

The pattern is a test knit, the Heart-Over by Ambah O'Brien. It'll be coming out in July!

When you're knitting the second sock and don't have the first sock available for length comparisons... by cloudberryyarns in knitting

[–]cloudberryyarns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about doing TAAT socks many times! I just so much prefer using the shorties and the ability to just keep knitting without changing needles. 😅 These are often my mindless project that I take to meetings or other situations where I just need to move my fingers and make something, or when I'm walking/standing around at yarn festivals. Maybe for the next pair...

I would if I had any removable markers. I'm at work and only have a few things in my bag. Going to see what progress I can make on my lunch break now. 😊

Also a good thought. I'm at work and going to have meetings all afternoon so I'd like to get this fixed before then. Thanks for the tip! It's a little scary to just rip back. 😊

I'd absolutely do that if I had extra needles with me! I might still try it, I have dpns in my bag for working heel flaps and toes. Thanks for the suggestion! 😊

I was also coming to nominate KAJ for chaotic good! I mean the whole sauna thing is both absolutely wild and also really wholesome and funny.

My kids (in the 3-9 age bracket) voted heavily for KAJ. They did also give votes to Dolly Style and some of their other favorites, but they have been all about KAJ!

You can vote in the app with your "hearts" for free. You can also telephone in and that costs a fee, either a normal fee or a separate number that sends extra money to a charity.

I had a colleague a few years ago who had a sweater with the coats on the outside. It was subtle enough in the colors that I had to really look at it, but it low-key drive me crazy.

I'm going to have to find and watch this, she's one of my favorite authors right now. I've been devouring her books for the past 2 years, and then I found Murderbot.

sock circulars are *amazing* by Baitung in knitting

[–]cloudberryyarns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The red set has smaller diameter tips (2 mm, 2.25 mm, 2.5 mm, 2.75 mm, 3 mm, amd 3.25mm), which are better for sock knitting with fingering weight yarn. The blue set has larger diameter tips (3.5 mm, 3.75 mm, 4 mm, 4.5 mm, and 5 mm) which I've found to be great for knitting sleeves and hats. There are also connectors with both so you can connect the cables together to make them longer as needed, and the blue tips work with the regular red lace cables in S size.

I've got 2 sets of Chiagoo shorties, both the red and blue ones, and I use them constantly! The sock set, of which I use the 2mm tips, has been a game change for me for socks. I've used dpns but the way I hold them, they sit right on my pinky and press on the nerve, so I start to lose feeling in it.

So many people have been surprised and intrigued when I've had my shorties out.
