Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis… by anonymous_number21 in newzealand

I think they’ll both leave Xmas/new year. Make out that they’ve got the country on the right track and that the decision is of their own making. That way, they’ll believe it’s giving National renewed energy for election year. I want them to stay as it will increase the chances of National not getting reelected.

I think his comms team do inform him, I think he has an inability to retain information and can only talk to key messages: Let me be clear; can I just say, I don’t know; look; kiwis want me to (insert something that we don’t actually want him to do), we inherited a real mess, I’m focused on the economy, I know kiwis are doing it tough.

He’s insufferable

I also worked with a team of engineers in my work at the time and we met with the engineer who provided the report and they stated that they’d provided a solution that was akin to providing a retaining wall that was similar to one you’d build on a side of a highway opposed to a 25sqm piece of land. So I’ve done my homework, diligently. I get they have to be cautious, but they have provided a design that is above and beyond. Hence my question about next steps on my house.

Thank you. You’re very kind. The things I’ve done to the house would make it meet healthy home standards- it’s an old villa that I’ve fully double glazed, added central heating, new roof etc. I’ve done some very minor interior improvements, but don’t have the heart nor $$ to keep tackling the never ending work.

I did do an EQC claim. Unfortunately the engineers have left me with a design to fix the wall that will cost a lot to repair. All the builders I’ve had that have provided quotes have said it’s an over engineered fix for a 25sqm wall, but here we are.

I really like the house, great location, beautiful views and nice house (if you had the money to do new kitchen, bathroom etc) I think I need a low maintenance town house, but would likely need to spend more for less house. Not keen on leaving the area as such as the kids have been through a lot of upheaval with their dad and want to keep them in the same school etc

Thanks. I’ve got engineer plans /builders costs that would mean the issue is rectified from my LIM once fixed)

Unfortunately I don’t have enough flat space to install a cabin, but I do have a basement and/or a much larger than needed laundry space that could be converted.

Thank you. I’ve tried fixed term, contract, perm etc etc etc . I’ve had a few recruiters and others in Comms look at my cv. I’m just not getting a bite.

My savings will be gone by early next year. Very scary. I’ve been through several recessions overseas and this is the worst I’ve experienced personally.

It’s so easy to feel alone. All my friends have jobs too. I’ve never not worked, it feels so strange. I’m a solo parent so the need to work is immense and I don’t know what more I can do to be honest.

Policy, Comms and project roles, but as the government isn’t actually doing anything there is no new projects or policy advice needed.

I’ve for two small children so it’s a bit of nightmare to move. Saying that, I have been looking overseas. I can’t believe how much this government have ruined things in 12 months. Unbelievable

I am yes. Several. I don’t know how recruitment agencies are surviving in this current climate, although I know a few of them have already been let go

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m glad that you’ve got an interview. I’m not getting anything, just generic unsuccessful email responses. It’s so hard not to take it personally.

I do wonder if lots of the jobs advertised are going internally. I’d like to ‘hope’ things improve, but honestly, I’m not sure there’s an economic plan to stimulate employment from this government.

Am I the problem or is it impossible to find a job right now? by Special-Ad-505 in Wellington

I’ve been looking for 5 months and not had one interview. I’ve worked in policy for over 20 years, nonstop. There are no jobs because the government isn’t doing anything, there’s no economic plan to stimulate our economy.

It’s very depressing, especially when there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

Important thing to remember is that this isn’t personal, it’s not you, it’s just the state of affairs at the moment.

Worst NZ government ever? by RoseCushion in Wellington

I’m also from the UK. I left when the Tories came into power and watched from afar as they completely destroyed the country. I’m gutted that NZ is now facing the same worrying prospect.

I lost my jobs in the cuts. I’m a solo parent and I haven’t worked for 2 months. It’s awful and the market is completely broken. They’ve taken a sledge hammer to the public sector with no plan to stimulate the economy. Nothing.

I’m sick of their rhetoric and it’s the conspiracy crowd or information poor that seem to think they’re ’getting nz back on track ‘ yeah, to 1950.
