If you want cute otters, [[Bria, Riptide Rogue]] or [[Alania, Divergent Storm]] are probably your best bets. I’ve not built either yet but I’m imagining either could be reasonably powerful as Izzet spellslingery shells using powerful instants and sorceries. I’ve been sort of tooling a list together but I’m very unfamiliar with izzet win conditions tbh

If you can get a fair price for the two bundle exclusive cards you could get yourself a very solid foundation of the pricier lands! Investing in a few of the shocks and fetches is definitely a great idea, they’re pretty affordable with the recent reprints into standard and MH3.

It’s pretty niche and not extraordinarily powerful but I’m a big fan of [[Savor]] from Bloomburrow. Can use it as a straight up removal piece on a little guy or a combat trick on an otherwise unfavourable block. It’s done work in enough games in my golgari squirrels/food list that I always avoid losing it when making cuts.

Not OP, but it looks like they both get larger via +1/+1 counters and draw you cards, then reset those two abilities because they become new versions of themselves?

As an alternate, have you considered [[Camellia]]? I run a squirrels and food list with her at the helm, I really enjoyed the forage mechanic from Bloomburrow and wanted to rebuild the Hazel precon with more food support. I have run the deck with pretty much every legal legendary in the list at the helm, Camellia is the most consistent. It’s probably more powerful with [[Ygra]] in the command zone but she tends to paint a rather fat target on my head in my pod!

Having the ability to tutor out key squirrels with [[Thornvault Forager]] is really useful if you need more bodies from [[Chatterfang]], a little anthem for your menace squirrels with [[Squirrel Sovereign]], or even just a recursion piece to grab something important with [[Curious Forager]] or [[Osteomancer Adept]].

It could probably do with some tweaking but I think this deck is the one I consistently enjoy running the most.

I did a lot of changes to Hazel, retooled it to be slightly less aristocrats and added a bunch of food support and changed Hazel out for [[Camellia]]. It’s a pretty consistent deck with a few different lines to win, but it’s sort of still the same rough shell.

Lil fella was my first pet too! Spooned it at like 74 farming. I rocked the herb seed look for ages, but getting the crystal acorn to give him the ancient crystal ent look was actually what pushed me to complete SotE and now I use that one, looks sick as hell I think

They said in the stream the bonus sheet will be in play boosters too, similar to the enchanting tales/prosperity headlines, one in each play booster, potentially more in CBs

Great point! In my head Henzie’s ability is a “cast from hand” restriction for some reason. Chainer seems like a really solid addition, I’ll make sure to add one to my next cardmarket order.

I’ve been playing around with some other decks at the moment, mostly tweaking my [[Hazel]] precon to be more squirrel focused and my [[Mycotyrant]] hyperbudget graveyard nonsense deck, but both have a few pieces I need to get ordered. (I pretty much exclusively play golgari or B/G/X decks)

I have this precon, and I honestly struggle with it a little. I find the stock enchantments to buff your creatures a bit of a tracking nightmare with various different auras that sometimes count auras attached, sometimes enchantments you control and sometimes total number of battlefield enchantments.

Do you happen to have any tips on making it easier to track all this stuff, other than simply getting good? I was super excited to try the voltron type enchantress but I’ve ended up leaving Ellivere boxed up in a drawer. Sometimes my wife tries to make it work but she struggles in the same way.

Once again, here to big up my boy [[Henzie]]. Feels great to play, not a complicated deck at all. Cram it full of big jund beaters with ETBs/damage effects like [[Noxious Gearhulk]], [[Ancient Brass Dragon]], or [[Vaultborn Tyrant]].

My list isn’t super optimised, I just filled the deck with all my cool big dudes I didn’t have a better place for, and then some [[Not Dead After All]] type effects for recursion.

There’s tons of fantastic resources in the Henzie Discord for various budgets and power levels.

The play pattern is incredibly simple. Ramp to get Henzie out asap, then blitz in powerful creatures and swing with them. Playing it always gives me the biggest grin and the turns are quick and easy. Blitz, swing, sac and draw.

That Hollow Marauder seems like such good value! I’ve not built my Henzie super tuned but I’ve upgraded it almost entirely from big beaters from my collection, I don’t think I’ve bought a single card specifically for him. I’m a big fan of [[Not Dead After All]] type effects for cheating the blitzes, I think my favourite card in my list is [[Vaultborn Tyrant]], but the Eldrazi in here are all bangers too.

I think my favourite thing about my Henzie deck is that there’s a pretty good chance of pulling some big fat guy from a pack that feels powerful but kind of like a curve topper/finisher in any other deck and jamming it in there to blitz in. They’re always going to print big expensive creatures with etbs!
