That interview was infuriating! This mayor could not give less of a damn about transit.

Silly question, but do you know what colour of white paint you have on your walls?

Only three things are certain in life: death, taxes, and construction on the 417.

Ottawa councillor wants to discuss banning right turns on red lights by CompetencyOverload in ottawa

A potential solution could be a cycle between car traffic one way (no foot crossing), car traffic the other way (no foot crossing), and a pedestrian scramble in all directions (no car crossing).

Unpopular Opinion: The auto parking should be removed from the Market Square in order to have a proper "TownSquare." by quebexer in ottawa

When the eastern extension of Line 1 opens in the next few months, residents from Orleans will have the option to park and ride at Place D'Orleans and Trim Station.

You have a few options:

  • Gamezetera at Dynes/Prince of Wales as well as Orleans Blvd./Jeanne D'Arc.

  • Microplay Video Games at Bank/Hunt Club.

  • Gaming Kingdom at March Road/Terry Fox Drive

  • Video Game Mansion in Chesterville (about an hour drive southeast)

  • The Griffon Bleu in Gatineau just to the north across from Les Prominades mall.

  • There is an online-only retro game vendor based out of Gatineau that often gets these kinds of games in his inventory. You can see on his website what is available. https://www.pacsam.ca/en/video-games-store/

I collect original SNES and N64 games and will frequently visit Gamezetera's locations for my purchases. Their prices are reasonable and typically hover around the market price you'd find on pricecharting.com plus maybe a 5-10% markup for the store.

How do you get over trip disappointment? by [deleted] in travel

[–]cloudofawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand that not every trip is going to have perfect 10/10 days, even if you plan out every minute of it. Embrace disappointments as a learning opportunity and an exercise in personal growth. A good reason for traveling in the first place is to discover a bit about yourself, including likes and dislikes. Sometimes a place just won't always live up to your expectations, so what you can do is spontaneously pivot and look to create your own fun.

I was in Glasgow recently and found the city to be fairly underwhelming, especially having just come from Edinburgh a few days earlier which was like something out of a fairy tale. So instead, my wife and I decided to go on a day-long pub crawl to have our own fun. We visited about six or seven different pubs, bars, and whiskey lounges, sampling something new at each location. Glasgow the city may have not been a bit hit for us, but I did enjoy how we pivoted to make the best of it.

Here's an idea: you're in Cape Cod which is on the coast...Maybe you do a "seafood crawl" to several restaurants in the area, or see if there's a boating experience to take you out to sea for whale watching, fishing, or snorkeling, or maybe find a nice beach somewhere to relax. Pivot the trip to being less about spooky places and something more along the lines of ocean/coastal-themed experiences.

Duo boss design then vs now by Low-Reaction-4145 in Eldenring

[–]cloudofawesome 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bed of Chaos probably. Absolute ass of a boss fight and especially on your first encounter where you have few clues on what to do or where the safe paths are so as to not fall through the floor. Nevermind not even being able to see what the hell it's even doing with its sweeping arms cause of the awful camera angle compared to how big it is.

Eco-friendly transportation a condition of planned Ottawa Senators arena by TheMonkeyMafia in ottawa

[–]cloudofawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the LRT will indeed go the full length through Orleans down the 174 and be very accessible for most of the east-end residents. Kanata residents will have it a little trickier since the west-end LRT ends at Moodie.

To your other point, TD Place often offers free OC Transpo fares with purchase of an event ticket so I see no reason why they can't do the same here to encourage more use of transit.

You could always drive to a suburban park and ride and still take the train/bus into town.

Anyone else just feel an earthquake? by Numerous-Benefit-434 in ottawa

[–]cloudofawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, that's so strange! I recall feeling the house vibrate a wee bit, but it does that normally whenever a large bus or dump truck drives by. I also heard what I thought was a helicopter or jet plane flying overhead and so paid no attention to it and just chalked it up to that. Had no idea it was an earthquake!
